Steps:
Ensure VPN Client Software is Installed:
Confirm you have the required VPN client installed on your device (e.g., Cisco AnyConnect, GlobalProtect).
If not installed, contact IT or follow the installation guide.
Open the VPN Client:
Launch the VPN application from your desktop or Start menu (Windows) / Applications folder (macOS).
Enter VPN Server Address:
In the VPN client, enter the VPN server address provided by your IT department.
Authenticate:
Enter your username and password when prompted.
If Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is enabled, complete the verification step (e.g., approve push notification or enter a code).
Connect:
Click the Connect button.
Wait for the client to establish the connection.
Verify Connection:
Confirm you are connected via the VPN client status.
You may also check access to internal resources (e.g., intranet, shared drives).
Disconnect When Finished:
When your remote session is complete, open the VPN client and click Disconnect to end the session securely.
Troubleshooting Tips:
If connection fails, verify your internet connection is active.
Double-check your username and password are correct.
Ensure MFA prompts are responded to timely.
Restart the VPN client or your device if issues persist.
Contact IT support if you receive error messages or connection still fails after troubleshooting.
