This article explains how to help a user unlock their Microsoft account after multiple failed login attempts or security concerns. It covers both self-service and admin-assisted methods.

Steps:
For Users (Self-Service Option):
Go to https://account.live.com.
Click “Next” after entering the locked email address.
Select “Forgot password?” or follow the instructions for identity verification.
Complete CAPTCHA and choose a recovery method (email, phone, or authenticator app).
Follow the prompts to reset the password and unlock the account.
For Admins (via Microsoft 365 Admin Center):
Log in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
Navigate to Users > Active users.
Search for the user and click their name.
Select Reset password or check for any sign-in blocks.
If the account is flagged for suspicious activity, verify the user's identity before proceeding.
Save changes and inform the user to try signing in again.
Troubleshooting Tips:
If the user can't access any recovery methods, escalate to Tier 2 or contact Microsoft Support.
Frequent lockouts may indicate an outdated password stored on a mobile device or app.
