Ingredients list:
White or brown Sesame seeds 1 Cup
Jaggery 1/2 cup
Clarified butter or ghee 1 tbsp
Cardamom powder 1 tsp
Cloves Powder 1/2 tsp
Black pepper crushed 1 tsp
Recipe Steps:
Place a kadhai on a medium flame and add peanuts in it and roast it for a while. Remove it from the pan and keep it aside.
Next dry roast Sesame seeds in the same kadhai till it changes its color to light golden. This will take around 5 to 7 minutes in a low to medium flame. Keep it aside in a plate.
Return the kadhai to stove in low flame. To this add Jaggery along with 1/4 cup of water, Cardamom, cloves powder and finally the crushed black pepper.
Stir it nicely till the jaggery melts and one string thickness jaggery syrup is formed. To test the consistency of jaggery syrup, take a bowl with water and add one drop of syrup. If the jaggery stays like that - without dissolving then remove it out of water to check its consistency. If you are able to make a soft ball out of it, that means jaggery syrup is ready.
Reduce the flame to low and add the roasted sesame seeds and roasted peanuts to the jaggery syrup.
Mix it nicely in a spatula from all corners till all the jaggery is nicely coated with sesame seeds. Switch off the flame. Let it cool down a little bit so that you can hold it in your hands to make laddus.
Try to make small laddus out of it till the mixture is warm.
Add little water in your hand to make small laddus smoothly.
Once all the laddus are done, take little ghee in your hand and nicely coat all the laddus, this will give a shining texture to your laddus.
Sesame seed Laddu is ready for your offering.
