From 12.21.24 to 01.19.25, the Sun transits Capricorn every year. The sign is ruled by Saturn and brings the greatest concrete times, which will be followed later by a great renewal for the entire year. Six cards of the Egyptian Tarot deck by Kier Ed. are assigned to the sign of the goat, where 8 is the corresponding number. And, among Greek deities, Hestia and Hera are associated to a big control and determination as main characteristics, both inside and outside.
During the solar month a season of maximum states is present in both hemispheres. In the North, winter turns it all harder, leaving beings and things in the same conditions they were before, whereas in those states will be decided the beginning of a long future ahead. In the South, summer brings the greatest activity: for big expressions and great final developments. These moments are referred to in I Ching by hexagrams Kun The Receptive (2) and Chien The Creative (1), primary signs, structured, present in all states and processes during the year.
In classic and esoteric Astrologies, Capricorn counts on several rulers: Saturn and Venus, key masses for developing cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra & the very Capricorn). And, according to karmic Astrology, Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo & Capricorn) consider relationships and affinity very seriously, and sometimes they even take people with them to future times.
indexCapricorn is assigned to 1 major card and 5 minor ones: Justice (8), The Prodigy (26), Dispair (35), Thought (44), Resentment (53) and Proscription (62).

KUN The Receptive
02. Empty (productive cycle).
A time of darkness, closing, waiting, to open and take place further. It's not possible to look outside or inside since only the empty is: so if wanting to know the own characteristics, states, etc., wait for active energy to enter, and then start relations. Now, there's no definitions and it would be better to stay flexible, permeable and soft. Flow with the year, and expect for light at the bases, roots, thinking, the most private reasons. All of that will raise by its own impulse, and according to what has been planned since the last three months. But this month is not for working on it but giving time, not taking action, remaining at rest and waiting for better moments to get closer again, announce, restart and make things grow. In those moments, yang energy will be expressed (light) while yin energy allows the unfolding (space).

CHIEN The Creative
01. Strength (productive cycle).
Month of completion. Many times, Chien is represented by a dragon flying high to Heaven, gradually, counting on sight and strenght to know the right moment to go up, where to fly and the right height to reach. There are spaces to be taken, good areas to finish tasks or works. It's time to finish developments but also to avoid taking risks in ambitious searches. Do not overestimate the own skills, your feet should remain near the ground, and keep on sight other places, situations or people. On the contrary, some loses and setbacks will mean a high cost for expectations, invested times and efforts.
Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn are all cardinal signs. They set instances, times of important twists, some of them related to beginnings, some others to endings. And When the Sun is in Capricorn, the four cardinal signs are developed in a very specific way.
Among Olympian deities, Capricorn is associated to Hestia and Hera: law on Earth and out-of-control situations. About Hestia, read the previous newsletter delivery, since Greek deities rule two signs of the Zodiac: Hestia rules both Sagittarius and Capricorn. Both deities are also part of a very special couple, Hestia more related to death and Hera more related to her life next to the Olympian king. That's why there's a long description about Hera, so take a time for reading.
The madness unleashed by the free goddess took everyone's reason away, which produced bloody deaths. When Hera knew that Heracles the hero would kill the serpents of her garden, she called The Witches to prevent his childbirth, although they didn't make it. The hero threatened happiness, her wedding gift, as well as her power: the serpents watching over the garden symbolized sexuality, vigor and phallic power to bring life, rule the Earth and kill. The goddess made it harder for Heracles in many of his famous works, and she even made him mad. Anyway, the hero finally killed the serpents, which became the constellation Serpent. As a symbol of the penetrating power and opening, the goddess remain related to open spaces, mostly natural ones, like the stars in the sky, the atmosphere on Earth, and turbulent weather.
Then, Hera sent a storm to Heracles, so he was forced to land in Kos, where he almost finds death. This is why Zeus hanged Hera from the Olympus, but Hephaestus her son set her free once again. The release made Zeus threw him down from heights once again and, since then, the smith was called "the lame one". However, when Heracles completed his works and became immortal, he married youth (Hebe, one of the goddess' daugthers), as a way to keep the vigor and sexual potency of the serpents he had killed.
When Hera knew Zeus have had a daughter who would bring victory to wars, and that she had no mother (Athenea), the goddess prepared to fight the king of the Olympus. Both have had Ares, the god of war, who is usually associated to sex and love, so Athenea's birth meant that Zeus had had potency, with good outcomes and without a couple. Being sexual power and victory threatened, Hera made sky and earth sound, as if it were about protecting her garden: she invoked the powerful grandparents Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Heaven), and hit the Earth ground with her hand, creating echoes in Tartarus (where the Titans were confined, since Zeus have defeated them). So Typhoon was born, the winged monster with snakes body and fire mouth, which was raised by Python the serpent. The monster faced Zeus and chased all the Olympian gods on a hunt, who had to run away to Egypt and turned themselves into animals to stay covered, as they went through storms, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The natural forces caused great fear but Hera was not terrified by Typhoon and, instead, rejected the unlucky although constructive Hephaestus.
Hera competed next to Athenea and Aphrodite before Paris of Troy, the prince of shepherds. Paris had been offered power (Hera), love (Aphrodite) and victory (Athenea), but he choosed love, which lead to the Trojan war, with Hera against the Trojans and fighting for the Greek Hellene, the one chosen by Paris, to be taken back to the Greeks. Once more, love and war were related although splitted, and the same happened when Hera made Pygmies reject her honorable queen. Back then, the human Gerana had became matron of her people and was highly considered, more than the expected for a simple mortal. So for taking away her power and honors, the goddess transformed her into a crane, a bird of long neck that was not wanted by her people anymore and had to fly high, although to leave away from her land.
There are more stories about her jelousy and fights. Side, first wife of Orion the giant, was thrown to the underworld ruled by Hades. Iynx the nymph had fascinated Zeus with her magics, so she turned her into a stone. Echoe the nymph had been intimately with Zeus, so she took her voice away and made her just repeat the last words pronnounced to her. She suggested Semele, one of the Moon's goddesses, to wait for Zeus just like she had welcomed him on her wedding night. But the vision of Zeus arrival. surrounded by thunders and lightnings. scared her to death. Semele was pregnant, and Dionysus would be born the next season, so Zeus carried him inside of his hip until his development was completed and he came into the world. Later, he was raised by Ino and Athamas, a couple who made him look like a girl to protect him, but when Hera knew about it she made them mad. Letho the titan was pregnant by Zeus, and Hera chased her while threatened those ones who dare to help her in childbirth. But Asteria the titan assisted her and Artemis came to life, the goddess of hunting (Hera didn't kill Asteria but transformed her into Delos Island, where she had run away when Zeus wanted to be with her). Callisto the nymph was devoted to Artemis but got pregnant by Zeus too, although Hera didn't chase her personally. Instead, she sent the very hunting goddess in her place, since the nymph had lost her virginity (such as it was required by the cult to Artemis). Callisto was turned into an animal to stay covered, and went up to Heaven, where she became part of the stars in the constelattion Ursa Major (Great Bear).
The narrations about Hera are quite profuse since they refer to a lot of subjects: sex and power, echoes and tolerance, chains and freedom, reason and madness, natural legacy and cultural development, a man and a woman (Humankind). Several wars were unleashed after choosing between love and sex, since they were splitted apart (one thing or the other, one thing after the other). And many childbirths that meant a threat to power were put at risk. About them, Heracles', Artemis' and Dionysus' developments inside of the uterus might have been interrupted or discontinued, with developmental times almost unfinished. Whereas the births of Athenea, Hephaestus and Typhoon referred to the relations between war, madness and reason (as understanding and motif).
About the three last ones, some echoes give clues. The head is the usual physical place where understanding and intelligence are commonly assigned to: Athenea was born from Zeus' head, a warrior and mental-oriented goddess, away from Hera's bloody madness, who was the mother of the boodthirsty Ares. And, although Hera didn't find echo in her son Hephaestus and threw him to a ravine, she did find echo inside of the hollowed Earth, among the Titans in Tartarus, the matrix where she poured ancestral spirits on for Typhoon's birth. The monster chased Zeus and other deities by exciting both body and spirit: great sounds (thunders, earthquakes), freedom (wings to fly) and sexual power (fire to burn, electric rains). It has to be mentioned that the wings are one of the main characteristics of Hermes, the god of voice, sound and intelligence between a man and a woman (understanding). In this sense, Athenea without a mother, and Hephaestus and Typhoon both without a father, seem to be far from separative madness but closer to self-control for staying together.
More echoes can be mentioned. The king who married Hera, Zeus, had had many lovers and displayed a wide resonance which, being one of her main characteristics, was also the cause of her jelousy, rage and chases everytime a couple became a triad (from two to three partners). But a particular triad didn't mean a problem. Zeus shared the throne with Hestia, who had explicitely resigned her physical sexuality to rule sacrifices and take care of altars' and houses' fires. She also resolved justice in those cases when the Olympian gods quarreled with mortals. But Hera, ruler of the stars and who also loved life on Earth, didn't compete with Hestia, even when she might haved seemed to threat her power. Why would she compete with someone who didn't have sex with a man? Hera's power seems to be more related to sexual power, pleasure and procreation, which causes wars if absent (as a substitute of sex).
It also has to be mentioned that Ares as a planet is exalted in Capricorn, the sign of inherited laws for social life. Hestia and Hera, far from competing each other, forged a same destiny: they brought the echo of some ancient law of blood that stated fires and storms on sterile lands, or sex and blood on fertile lands. Hera's horror in front of Hephaestus was absent when meeting Typhoon: the monster represented both Hestia and Hera united, in the struggle of Humankind to survive by joining a man and a woman to procreate.
About the union of sexes, both liking and pleasure in Hera's narrations remain associated to physical attraction, especially if considering that the goddess had found echo to create Typhoon in the hollowed Earth (meaning superficial or nothing inside), and that she didn't tolerate the absence of echo with Hephaestus, to whom she threw down to a ravine, in madness, with no reason, without a motif. However, the narrations of the goddess also refer in several ways to beauty when it involves two people, which also alludes again although indirectly to the death of Humankind when a man and a woman are not united. With her twin brother and husband, Zeus, she had had a beautiful garden to enjoy and find joy in each other, with freedom, youth and physical pleasures. And both, each by their own, had had Athenea and Hephaestus, who were a couple of stepbrothers that, far from hollowed and destructive, brought intelligent victories and a constructive spirit based on mutual understanding.
Ancestral legacies and, especially, the position about them, are seen through generations over time, either. It is said that Uranus was very jelous and always remained too sticked to Gaia, leaving no empty space for anything else to live (there was no air nor atmosphere). In the same way, their grandsons Hera and Zeus were a similar couple: Gaia was the inheritance of a hollow Earth, so Hera competed about what is separative and superficial, and Zeus used to seduce and be seduced oftenly; the electric Uranus, sticked to Gaia, meant death for the rest, so Hera chased and destroyed because of her jelousy, and Zeus brought death to everyone with his ray. Whereas Typhoon, created from the hollow and destructive Tartarus, didn't want to remain on that legacy: it had wings to move and fly freely in an aerial atmosphere, finding space to play and search for the union of sexes, in its own ways (which would leave behind madness, so the developments that Uranus had not allowed could be started). The same separation from the ancestors can be found in the birth of the rational Athenea and the cultural products provided by Hephaestus the smith worker.
Reason, as an alternative to madness, is quite important from different perspectives. In ancient Babylon, the playful Gemini or the twins were represented by a man and a woman, opposite and separated, who know each other by experimenting (although they don't meet), whereas the Greek Hephaestus ruled the productive and useful Virgo. Both signs were ruled by the Roman Mercury later, and altogether refer to knowledge and trials leading to destruction as well as construction. Besides, the planet is exalted in Aquarius, where voice, communication and understading are potentiated, which is all replaced many times by the madness of bloody wars withouth intelligence.
About it, the destructive Ares and the constructive Hephaestus ruled the dualistic Libra, a sign represented in the Babylonian tradition by an alternating balance to make judgements, with two harmful claws of scorpion. In a sign of seeming equilibrium, where Saturn ruler of Capricorn is exalted, Hera's narrations tell of madness and law: madness as the absence of alternance according to what reason or judgement says (her son Ares), and justice when madness is unleashed (her son Hephaestus). The latter had chained the white death arms of his mother, which had been a sentence of inaction, as a way of control and prevention, such as Zeus did when he hanged her (suspended) because of her madness unleashed against Heracles. In both situations Hephaestus always chose to free her, but undoing Zeus' justice caused a greater madness: the smith was again thrown down from the Olympus' heights, although this time by Zeus in person, Hera's twin, the unchained mad one who seeked life by bringing death (the only position). Their descendants Typhoon, Athenea and Hephaestus were the ones who mostly sought to make a cultural twist from that legacy, which in the narrations is symbolized by the absence of mother or father.
Death and life cannot be dissociated, and were represented as a law in the couple formed by Hestia and Hera: law of death on Earth, devoted to the gods (spread blood in sacrifices), and law of life from the stars, poured on mortals (spread blood in childbirths). The latter was implemented since Uranus (Heaven) had been separated from mother Earth and allowed life (breath) for his descendants. The separation-birth delivery implied several effects to the world: the division of sexes was referred to by a Zodiac (gathering natural oppositions), self-regulation as an instance (law, inner judgement), and Humankind as the outcome of united couples and birth deliveries (sacrifices). If fertility and sex between opposites, Hestia's law is not present.
All of this is clearly indicated by the Egyptian Tarot cards by Kier Ed. The deities had run away to Egypt when Typhoon chased them after Athenea's birth, or the victory of gray eyes, the one of non-natural life, the one who put an end to sex in couples, Artemis' huntings and Ares' blood wars. The Egyptian deck includes many symbologies, and one of them is precisely about vitality indicated by planetary relations. The circle of animals (Zodiac) allows different types of readings about it, for instance physical sexuality inside of a matrix of exaltations (11 a 22). Especifically The Apostolate (12, in other decks called The Hanged Man) is assigned to Moon (when exalted in Taurus, receptive substance) and to number 3 (which corresponds to Jupiter, alike the Greek Zeus, the fertilizer, giver of life). The sign is also ruled by Vulcan, the builder of substance. The opposite card or zodiacal couple is Twilight (18, in other decks Moon), and is assigned to Uranus (when exalted in Scorpio, magnetism in sexuality). The card is also associated to number 9, Mars, the one of physical sex, blood in conquests and desire as it opens new spaces. The physical-psychic separation of Hestia's possessive and magnetic grandparents was a chance for reason because it opened a space to move, with an air atmosphere to breath and make echoes, in a place where the opposites who fight each other love each other and join as a couple.
Since Uranus-Gaia, the couple as a subject remained always present in the profusion of separations and unions both in the Olympus and the world, like the trials of a couple of twins who, if not joined, destroy the very Humankind: death (Hestia) - life (Hera) and man (Zeus) - woman (Hera). Typhoon the monster, the artificial Athenea and the bloodthirsty Ares represent unleashed madness when the parts remain splitted apart, and when the dissociated is not gathered. Aphrodite, daughter of Uranus and goddess of the love Paris had chosen, will be the one to make ties and unify for an ancestral lineage or offspring be possible throughout time.
Hera's tradition had left a legacy of madness and splitted couples, mostly seen in her sons or Aries-Libra zodiacal opposition (Zeus was her twin brother, so they were the same in a way). It was artificial madness (the conquest of life by Athenea in Aries vs. Ares wars in Libra, Greek tradition). And they splitted apart the body-libido (Mars sex in Aries vs. Venus love in Libra, Roman tradition). But Aphrodite brought permanence to unions, so traditions and legacies may be continued (Taurus). Since she preceded Hera in the Olympian geneaology, she also had offered an alternative to madness as a legacy, although the attemps to reach it failed. In the stars, the chasing Typhoon evokes the exalted Uranus in Scorpio (sexuality), the artificial Athenea the exalted Sun in Aries (alike Zeus, creation without Moon), and Hephaestus who had set free his mother two times, who also was thrown to an abyss twice and almost finds death, evokes the exalted Saturn in Libra (law of two -options, couple, chances- or law of death).
Later, the options were a matter of Venus in Libra (Rome), which anyway remain inside of the matrix of opposites, or the separation of couples. Beyond that legacy is Venus in esoteric Astrology. In the perspective, the planet rules Capricorn and Gemini, and mean unions by magnetic attraction along with physical changes towards corresponding forms. The signs and rulerships show a real separation from inheritance when the genres are united. In the same sense, the Greeks Hermes & Aphrodite are parts of the hermaphrodite, intelligence and love, a type of union out of a world of opposites, since the two deities ruled Gemini, Taurus and Aries. But a space with no oppositions nor exaltations is not the Olympus' Heaven, and doesn't inherit its ways or traditional fabrics.
Continuing or discontinuing legacies is one of Hera's subjects, which could only be solved in the field of one of her sons, the Greek Hephaestus associated to Virgo and Libra. Hephaestus the forger had chosen the law of two although had not worked the substance yet to implement Aphrodite's alternative: the narrations clearly show he had problems to be accepted by and get along with a woman. Whereas the Roman tradition splitted the very smith: it assigned Vulcan (Hephaestus) to work on the substance' dominion (Taurus) and Venus (Aphrodite) in the art of love (Libra). The alternative to Hera's legacy was only Hermes united to Aphrodite, but Venus in Libra is indecision. In this tradition, the alternative couple didn't had a chance either since any choice in the matters of love means a separation from something or someone, even if it is temporary. This is one of the most difficult characteristics to handle in the sign of the balance: not-choosing, which doesn't push away nor brings closer either. As an alternative, the hermaphrodite was always an option. But it wasn't a real one for Hera's descendants, and definitely not at all for those living under the Roman sky.
People born between 12.21.24 and 01.19.25 will be quite related to each other, as part of a beautiful group line to see over time. Birth charts from December 21 to January 10 will display great echoes and a lot of freedom to join and conquer. Whereas the charts of those born between January 11 and 19 will make it through unions, fusions, deep passions and love. Altogether, they'll forge a path of mutual echoes and fusions, as the karma of the Zodiac, the totality, unfolding itself.
Portuguese Sea
Salt sea, how much salt
are tears of Portugal!
Because we crossed you, how many mothers cried,
how many sons prayed in vain!
How many brides remain unmarried
for you to be ours, sea!
Was it worthy? All is worthy
if the soul is not small.
Whoever goes beyond Bojador
must go beyond pain.
God to sea danger and abyss gave,
but it is where heaven is mirrored.
By Fernando Pessoa, from Portuguese Sea (from Mensagem trilogy, "Message"). Bojador is a coaster city in Morocco nowadays (Western Sahara).
About...
Portuguese Sea refers to the wars during the conquest of a continent: America. The work includes twelve poems assigned to the zodiacal signs, each one of them related to a specific phase during the development of the company. The name of the poem included here is that of the very work and is the one related to Capricorn, where Mars exalts wars: time has passed by, the path has been transited, and the land has been conquered.
Verses mainly evoke the costs of the conquest. Sorrow for loses and distances, retro views, and great spirits to reach great ambitions. The poem also mentions the religious support that justified an expedition to carry the cross through seas and place it on American land, as native populations were slaughtered and controlled in obedience to Catholic laws and Iberic kingdoms.
The entire Zodiac is alluded to in verses, and a lot of associations derive from them. Sagittarian adventures and Jupiter's religion, seen in the expansive policy towards an unknown world. Capricorn's blood sacrifices and Saturn's law, seen in a cross of pain. Pisces' massiveness and Neptune's influence, referenced by the sea, that great wholeness aiming to resemble Heaven on Earth. More details about the author and his works on this article.
Astrology 2025-26: astral karma
New birth charts' karma changes on January 2025, and this is important to new birthdays as well as to the rest of people.
Since day 10, Virgo - Pisces will be the signs of karma, and their rulers will indicate evolutional events: the fast Mercury and the unfathomable Neptune. The signs have been mentioned before when new born babies' karma was described but the new article on Google Sites includes what all people should expect from a karmic point of view, until another new karma be pointed out on July 2026.
The new karma will be a transit too but, unlike other ones, Moon's karma is always a key factor: know the characteristics of Mercury, Neptune and the signs to notice if the upcoming situations during the following months come from a karmic background.
Native-American Zodiac
The month of Capricorn in the Northern Hemisphere is related to the Snow Goose, a determined and goal-oriented sign. People of the sign are proud of their works and are always looking for a successful outcome. With the right partner, they become very sensual, playful and expressive. But when they don't match, they turn obssesive and gloomy.
The month of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere is related to the Woodpecker, a sign associated to nurturing, best partners and friends. People of the sign shine when it is about devotion and romance, and they also know how to keep to a budget!

Trees of Celtic tradition
Tree spirits are assigned according to lunar months, which begin at different dates than solar months do. When the Sun is in Capricorn, Ruis and Beithe spirits flourish. That of Ruis is present during only three days of the goat's month, between December 21 and 23. The rest of the solar month belongs to Beithe tree. But Ruis' spirit has been present since before, when the Sun was in Sagittarius, so you may find more about this spirit in the previous newsletter delivery dedicated to the sign of the archer.
People born between 12.24 and 01.20 are assigned to the spirit of Beithe tree (called Birch in Gallic). The tree is associated to B character, which in Chiromancy is related to the thumb finger. The latter is also associated to ether, as the element to express will and intellect, intention and reason. The finger also connects at the base with the mount of Venus, and Beithe is a tree to awaken artistic inspiration, either.
The name of the tree comes from the root bhereg ("shining, luminous, white"), and is usually called as "silver tree" or "The Lady of the Woods". It's one of the first trees to develop leaves, and is usually used to quickly reforest new soils. Other associations are purification, renewal, beginnings, rebirth and connection to the land of the deads (a broom made of beithe leaves or a bundle of branches moves out the spirits of the old year).
Young trunks' bark is bright brown, and turns to an attractive white color over time, with bands of black lines. Lenticels (foldings) are horizontally extended and develop big pores resembling open eyes, a classic characteristic of the tree. The wood is hard and burns a fire better than paper. The bark's white material can be easily peeled in very thin strips to make paper and ropes. The sap is a natural sweetener and, once fermented, can be used to make wine.
Of irregular top and hanging branches, leaves are small (around 1.9" long), of a triangular shape, green, quite serrated and pointed ending. They're used in saunas and, before falling from the tree, change to bright yellow color.
There are male and female flowers extended in catkins (long hanging and flexible clusters with seeds inside). Male ones are brown, and female ones are bright green and shorter. But after polinized, they change to red-dark brown color, to finally disintegrate in small winged seeds.
