From 02.18 to 03.19, the Sun transits on Pisces every year. The sign is ruled by Neptune, and is mostly associated to big collective tendencies in Humankind, deep mysteries and oceanic feelings. The sign is also related to eight Egyptian Tarot cards by Kier Ed., where 7 is its number. And, among Greek deities, Poseidon and Athena tell some more about a sign of terrific passions: the god of seas and the goddess of war victory.
The solar month for both hemispheres is a moment to move forwards, somewhere. In the North, people shouldn't hesitate to make a move and go ahead, even if goals are not close: making a stop should be the last option if interested in growing. In the South, a strong determination will be necessary to displace major current tendencies (or those ones being most considered at the time of making decisions) and, whatever the own position, the most important thing will be to free spaces from the own presence. I Ching refers to these moments in hexagrams Lin Approach (19) and Tun Withdrawal (33): delivering resources and clearing out the field, respectively.
In classic and esoteric Astrologies, Pisces counts on several rulers: Neptune, Pluto and Venus, key masses for developing mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius & the very Pisces). And, according to Karmic Astrology, Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio & Pisces) show singular ways to emerge to the surface: by founding, setting dispositions, pointing out the way...
indexPisces is assigned to 2 major cards and 6 minor ones: Triumph (7), Return (22), The Argonaut (25), Innovation (34), Hallucination (43), Premeditation (52), Solitude (61) and Cooperation (70).

LIN Approach
19. A lake gets expanded (reductive cycle).
This is not a month to be shy. Instead, it's a moment to take a big step and move several phases ahead, on a recently opened pathway. People's moods might have not been the best ones to reach full expression, but now it's the right time to make the best from the slightest chance and go out on stage, observing no subtle ways. Any chance should be taken and amplified to eagerly take what is wanted: something like a door's slit enlarging the contour at the slightest light coming from the other side. Stay aware, since these moments won't last for too long...
Southern Hemisphere
TUN Withdrawal
33. A great clearing (productive cycle).
Not staying for too long on a same place makes it harder to become a target. For being unnoticed, it's better to be involved in eventual, ephemeral relations, focused on short-term goals. An open display of the own presence won't be convenient and, instead, it would be better to focus on resources management, especially to preserve them (mainly from other people's sight). A month to hide and step back, and give no chance to undermine the own relations as they endure over time.
Geminis, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are all mutable signs. They're the agents of change, of transformations, of life in motion, and provide plasticity, design, direction and cohesion during processes. When the Sun transits on Pisces, the four mutable signs are developed in a very particular way.
Among Olympian deities, Pisces is associated to Poseidon and Athena: passions and intelligence. About Poseidon, read the previous newsletter delivery, since Greek deities rule two signs of the Zodiac: Poseidon rules both Aquarius and Pisces.
By birth and also because of what had happened with Crecops' daughters, Athena was quite involved in supporting her father's place as king of the Olympian deities. First, because her mother had been devoured precisely to avoid the birth of a brother who would challenge him, and later because she had acted like Hera about Crecops' daughters, so there was a sense of not being needed... (she had came into the world by Hephaestus' hand, as one of his positions before what had happened with his own mother, so she did what Hera did not: taking Erikhthonios in her arms). The other version about her childbirth tells she had a twin sister, Phallas, with whom once she fought in arms. Athena fell down but then Zeus showed up with a shield engraved with the head of Medusa: when Phallas looked up to protect herself, Athena attacked her. This happened when she raised her head up towards Zeus: he couldn't be seen but through a representation, in sanctuaries. In another occasion, the goddess took Ilo, king of Troy, his vision away, since he had removed her statue from a sanctuary devoted to her: it seems she could only be seen as a statue, not from above (like her step-son Erikhthonios inside of the chest) and not from below (without a statue, or looking up, to Heaven and Olympus). Vision had become something very important, such as it had been to the rejected Hephaestus. And not-viewing was important, too, such as it will be commented next.
Born withouth a mother, artificially, having not come from love explains the color of her grey eyes. And, such as it happened with Artemis and Hestia, Aphrodite goddess of love had no place near her. In fact, when Poseidon and Meduse the Gorgon were together in one of her sanctuaries, Athena turned back and covered her eyes for not seeing what was going on between a man and a woman: the goddess remained always as a virgin. Later, she transformed Medusa's hair into awfal snakes and, since then, whoever looked into Medusa's eyes was transformed into stone. Next, she told her half-brother Perseus to kill the Gorgon by using a shield where her face would be reflected (to discover her position and cut her head off, since nobody could look at her straightly). After getting the trophy, the head of Medusa was engraved in armors and shields as defensive weapons, such as Athena "defended" herself from the love she had not wanted to see. By wearing it as a defense, what could not be seen was always present, although not far from her but incorporated as an arm.
Medusa was her alter-ego but Athena was also known as Phallas Athena (when she defeated Phallas in combat, in her twin's sight was Athena instead of her father's shield with the Gorgon). The latter had loved Poseidon but had lost her head, whereas Athena was involved in several quarrels with the god, although she kept hers. They both had discussed about the kingdom of Athica, and it had to be resolved what deity should be adored in the place. The Olympian deities decided it should be devoted to Athena, who had planted an olive tree there. After the decision, Poseidon submerged the lands under waters, and she had to go away. In another occasion, during the war against the Titans, a dragon was thrown at the goddess, who grabbed its twisted shapes and threw it to the stars, where it became the constellation Draco (Tuareg, the Egyptian hippopotamus).
While fighting the passional Poseidon, in the two versions about her childbirth her alter or eventual alter is killed (Phallas, the unborn brother). Anyway, since she was not paired and protected herself from some views by carrying Medusa with her, something had been partialized: the couple of parents, the couple of brothers, such as it had happened with her father's head when splitted in two. Besides, the Olympus had a tradition of brothers and sisters in couples, married to each other, but Athena had any. Something had been not and couldn't be seen: Metis as procreative (to be a mother), a sexual relation between her father and Medusa (to be loved). What could be seen was her statue, to be adored as gold, wanted instead of rejected. For that purpose, she had hidden her step-child Erikhthonios inside of a chest, such as the child's father, Hephaestus, used to hide himself behind shiny metal objects. Anyway, adoring a statue reminds of a lifeless representation (the devoured Metis, Medusa's stony eyes, the unborn brother).
Myths also tell that she, like Ares god of war, loved warrior adventures, cities' assaults and the roar of war. But she was protected by two sons of the god, Deimos (Terror) and Phobos (Fear). So then she protected people when entering battles and on their way back home. In battles, she mostly provided recommendations and counselling, and was not directly involved but through other people's actions, or objects. For instance, when she sent the Amazone Penthesileia to fight Achilles when she arrived to Troy, or when Achilles and Ajax clashed their shields in Troy, or when she weared the skin of Phallas the giant as a protection during the battle against the Giants.
The goddess is usually associated to a more mental approach on war affairs, since she had been born from her father's head. But the absence of love, and the actions taken ahead by others show there's something artificial about her, something is not, and is called intelligence: big warrying displays were not executed by her own hand, and without terror and fear neither. Both were at her side, as weapons, and as shields and defenses against love, that strange thing she still rejected.
She had had the chance of love in the vision of Poseidon and Medusa together, and then perhaps the version of her childbirth as the daughter of the god with Tritonis might had kept her blue eyes like the sea, alive, and she might had not killed Phallas. But that chance had remained behind since her devoured mother, the unborn brother, the adored statue, necessarily adored to support the power of her father, for whom she was moved and fought many times, the daughter who carried Medusa's face as a weapon and symbol of power and the sex she had not (snakes), the daughter of who had defeated his competitor even before he had become such. A mental-oriented goddess focused on just one of two halves: artificial war, in which fights and love are not corporal experiences lived side by side, in which the mind and vision play the most important role.
Athena, the victorious one, daughter of Zeus, who had the title of king of deities, reminds of her father's power problems. Her grand-grandfather Uranus, creator of Heaven, had warned Zeus a son would challenge the king... Zeus was associated to Leo the sign, later related to Apollo, the god of the Sun, whose heat decreases water levels. But Poseidon was the one who made waters increase and decrease over and over again, resolving about the final result of quarrels (turning lands and kings unuseful). Who was Uranus referring to when he announced a more powerful son than his father? It should be remembered that Zeus' brothers had been devoured by Chronos, their father, and Zeus made him vomit them, later. In this sense, it could be considered that Zeus had become father of his brothers, Poseidon among them, and was later honoured as king of the Olympus for it. The fights between Athena (Zeus) and Poseidon were, altoghether, pyrrhic victories.
If interested in other associations, Mercury is the winged god who brings and sends messages. In Astrology, it's the planet of intelligence, communication and voice, and rules Gemini, the sign of brothers, sisters and antagonistic ones (the good omen and bad omen transmitted to Zeus by his grandfather, Uranus). Mercury is also the esoteric ruler of Aries, and provides a mental tone to the sign. And it's exalted in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus, where the messenger transmits loud sounds.
People born between 02.18 and 03.19 will count on quite emotional birth charts, of great sensibility, since Water element is predominant. Overflows and restrictions will be sequenced in their lives, although they'll remain a bit passive in front of them. Love will be at the end of the road, and will seem a strange thing to them. Whereas those born between February 19th and March 11th will be mentally oriented about this matter, and will possitively perceive it at first sight. Finally, people born between March 12th and 19th will clear out karmic clouds before going for more free and spontaneous relations.
Spirits in clouds fortune-telling
An ancient astronomic Chinese map, better known as the Dunhuang manuscript, is a roll paper associating 12 constellations to 25 omens displayed as clouds. Shapes, colors, motion direction and places where they were seen were all considered as they ways of spirits. Maps were utilized for both travellers on the Silk Road and seafarers, since clouds forecasted climate changes, deaths, special events in people's life, wars, new governors, and even those places where to find treasures and weapons!
Native-American Zodiac
The month of Pisces in the Northern Hemisphere is related to Wolf, an animal that feels very deeply. This is an unparalleled lover with a talent for passion. What's hard is that wolves are also independent –they need time away for themselves. If a Wolf finds a mate that understands that type of need, the person provides gentility and compassion for a lifetime.
The month of Pisces in the Northern Hemisphere is related to Bear, the most level-headed animal, always offering reasoning and taking into consideration various opinions. Despite how they seem in nature, they're shy creatures who love very deeply. They're patient and generous, which makes them good for parenting.

Trees of Celtic tradition
Tree spirits are assigned according to lunar months, which begin at different dates than solar months do. When the Sun is in Pisces, the spirits of Nion and Fearn flourish, although the latter is present just during the last day of this solar month.
People born between 02.19 and 03.17 are assigned to Nion's spirit (called Ash in Gallic). The tree is associated to N character, which in Chiromancy corresponds to the little finger, connecting at the base with the mount of Mercury. The finger is also associated to Air element in Astrology: the main meanings are nervous activity, quickness, intelligence, commerce, skillful speakers and medicine.
The tree represents ambition, vivacity, intelligence and trustfulness. It's also considered Odin's tree, the mythical god in Celtic tradition who heard sounds while lying in Yggdrasil, a Nion tree. Later, those sounds were translated into the form of runes. And it is said Nions have three roots: in the air, water and the other world.
It grows fast and even better in sunny places with just few shadows, in humid and deep or chalky soils. It lives between 30 and 200 years-old and reaches up to 130 ft high. The trunk is usually straight, and the bark of vertical lenticels is a main characteristic to distinguish it from other trees. The wood is also well known by a great absorption.
Of a bit enlarged and dense dome-shaped cup, leaves grow later than they do in other trees. Irregularly serrated, they form sets of opposite pairs, straightly attached to mid-ribs (no stems). Of a rounded base and sharp-ended, sometimes they fall from the tree even when they're still green.
In trees with no leaves yet, an easy way to know if it's a Nion is by looking for black buds in the upturned grey shoots, next to other two opposite ones (they use to remain on the tree even after leaves had fallen).
There are male and female flowers, and grow in clusters although in different trees each. They're small, of purple color and appear in the buds before leaves grow.
Fruits hang from clusters and are much notorious than flowers. They're called keys or samaras, and hold inside seeds of a single wing that propagate the tree as they fly by the wind.
People born between 02.18 and 04.14 are assigned to Fearn's spirit (called Alder in Gallic). The tree is associated to F character, which in Chiromancy corresponds to the middle finger, connecting at the base with the mount of Saturn: businessses, caution, inner principles, working spirit, security, patience. It's also the finger of Earth element in Astrology, which indicates practical spirit and physical preferences.
It's a middle-size tree usually found near streams of water, since it needs a lot of it in periodic current renewals. It grows fast, between 65-98 ft high, and may live up to 100 years-old. First roots are on the surface, the tree later loses them and develops other ones that, although not too compact, are deeply fixed, so they prevent the effects produced on banks by high levels of waters. If overflows last for too long, the tree extends soft roots over the trunk.
Roots also count on nodes where a specific mushroom fertilizes the soil by fixating nitrogen, so the tree grows at places where other species don't. It's developed better in water courses across mountains and valleys at middle heights, up to 1860 yds. It even grows from strains, which makes it a good tree to easily reforest (it's not pruned).
The trunk is straight and wood is highly resistant to water (it's not too hard, so can be easily moulded, although the quality of the products made with it decreases). When cut, it changes from white ivory to red-orange color, so it was believed the tree holded inside a human spirit. Since then, Fearn symbolizes resistence and passion.
Male and female flowers grow early, before leaves do, and hang in large catkins. Male ones are bigger, thin, cylindrical and pendular, of a reddish color. Female ones are smaller and produce a woody hard fruit, similar to a little pineapple.
Reddish sprouts from branches have rounded endings, are narrow and extend in spiral. Leaves are rounded too, of irregular and sinous borders, and a bit serrated. They stay green until they fall and, along with sprouts, are very viscous, which makes them more resistant to Winter rains.
