Roydon Wood

  • This is gentle route with a dog friendly tea room and access to as long a walk as you choose. This 3 mile route takes you into the Roydon Wood nature reserve (well behaved dogs permitted) along public rights of way with a wilder permissive path loop.Park at the Setley Ridge Garden Centre and Tea Rooms (grid
  • reference SU 302007. what3words.com/gladiator.chef.axed) and turn left out of the entrance, picking up the little off-road path at the end of the lay-by.
  • Continue on this wooded paths until you meet a quiet metalled lane, then a lane turning 90 degree left.
  • Continue on this gravel lane into Roydon Woods. On the right will be a gate and permissive route marked with posts. Follow this route until it loops back onto the bridle path.Turn right onto the bridle path. Turn left at the next junction and follow the path through the deciduous woods (or you can turn right for a longer walk across the forest). Just after a gate is a little permissive path to the left, again marked with posts. Follow this to loop back to the original bridle path (or continue on the main path to the church).
  • At the main path, turn right to retrace your steps back to the start.
