Millyford Bridge

This 6 miles walk, which can be easily shortened to suite your needs, takes you through mixed wooded areas, has toilets mid way and sticks mainly to gravel tracks, making it accessible and fairly mud free.

Start from the Millyford Bridge car park (grid reference SU 267 078, w3w.co/intention.scam.topic). Follow the gravel cycle track north from the car park.

Shortly after the long turn to the right, take the track on the left. This takes you to the Bolderwood car park with its information hut, toilets and ice-cream van.

Go through the car park to the other end. Cross the road and take the path past the Deer Sanctuary. Here fallow deer are fed by the foresters and can often be easily seen.

Follow the the track down the hill to the right. This is a Forest "honey pot", designed to cope with large numbers of visitors and thus protect wilder parts of the forest.

At the T junction turn right and continue on this track until you reach the Canadian Memorial. This is a simple wooden cross by the side of the road remembering the spot where Canadian forces held services in the lead up to the D Day landings in the Second World War.

Turn to the left of the memorial and take the track. Continue on this until you retrace your steps back to the car park.
