Franchises Wood
This 8.3km (5 mile) walk takes you through woodland managed as a nature reserve by the RSPB, formerly part of the Hamptonworth Estate. It follows a restricted byway and bridle path, becoming a public footpath for the final stretch. The whole route is a gravel track with some muddy patches in wet weather towards the end.

Park in the Telegraph Hill Car Park (grid ref: SU 228 166). Cross the road and go through the gate towards Camerson's Cottage, to the right of the house.

Follow the track to the bottom, under the pylons until you come to a T-junction. Turn left and follow this track past the solar park on the left and through the various stretches of mixed woodland.

Take the left turn up the next available track. Just past the cottage on the right, go through the gate and continue along the bridle path.

After the second metal gate, at the T-junction, turn left and continue up the hill, past Franchises Lodge on the left and back out on to the road where you started.
