This 8.5km walk starts and finishes at the Hale Purlieu National Trust Car Park (grid ref: SU 189 177). It includes plantation, heathland, and village. There's also the opportunity for lunch or light refreshments at the Horse and Groom pub in Woodgreen.

From the car park, take the path down into the valley, over the stream and through the woods.

When you come out of the woods, turn right and and follow the boundary along the edge of the Godshill Inclosure.

At the Godshill Inclosure car park, take the gate to the right into the woods. At the first junction in the woods, turn left. Follow the route through the woods onto and over the straight road.

Keep heading west until you reach Castle Hill.

At the Castle Hill road turn right and follow it into Woodgreen, enjoying the view out across the River Avon as you go.

At Woodgreen, either continue straight on to the pub, or turn right to the follow the Avon Valley Path.

At the cricket pitch, turn right onto the road and follow the route back to the car park.
