Ashurst

This 3.3km (2 miles) route starts and finishes at Ashurst Railway Station in the New Forest (not the Ashurst in Kent). Park either at the station or at The New Forest pub. Better still, use public transport to the Railway Station.

1.

Take the gate into the forest from the east side of the railway. There is parking by the entrance to Ashurst Hospital. Follow this path until you meet a route off the right.

Turn right and follow the path over the railway. This leads you into deciduous woodland. Continue until you meet the tarmac entrance road to Ashurst Lodge. This is currently home to the Wessex Institute.

Follow the tarmac road round to the right, heading back to the main road.

2.

Shortly before you reach the main road, cut off right across the open grass between the two blocks of trees. Keep going, past the campsite entrance and on to the right hand corner of the New Forest pub. There you will find a stile and cut through to the station car park.

Go onto the platform and use the bridge to cross the railway and head back to the start.
