The saxophone is a woodwind instrument, which requires air to be blown into a mouthpiece and across a reed (like a kazoo) to make sound. It has a medium voice; often associated with jazz, popular tunes, and being the center of attention. Its laid back and simplicity makes it a popular instrument. The saxophone in band comes in three types: Alto, Tenor, and Bari. The alto is the most popular to play and probably the most recognizable, the tenor is the most versatile with its wide range and color, and the bari is the lowest voice and is fun to listen to.
