Ms. Leonard is the current Band Director at Monte Vista. This is her 11th year teaching at MVHS. Ms. Leonard graduated from MVHS in 2005 after being in band for four years at MV. She was selected to travel with the Women of Note band for a 3-week performance tour in Europe the summer after graduating. She also performed with the San Diego Youth Symphony for 6 years.
Ms. Leonard attended SDSU with a duel degree in Music Performance and Music Education. While at SDSU, she performed with the Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Brass Quintet, and Marching Aztecs. While at SDSU, she toured and traveled with the Wind Symphony, Orchestra, and Marching Aztecs throughout Southern California and Las Vegas. She was hired to perform with the international Orquesta de Baja California to do a performance in Tijuana and Ensenada. She was also selected to participate in the first two years of the California Music Project- placing music education students in the classroom for experience in some of the lowest income areas of San Diego- with Hilltop Middle School and Bonita Vista High School. She obtained her California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music from SDSU and did her student teaching at Valhalla High School.
Ms. Leonard loves traveling, doing geeky/nerdy things with her friends, visiting family, reading, writing, and fighting for Music Education. She lives with her rescued cat: Prince. She is a fan of Marvel, Disney, Harry Potter, and bands Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and the Rolling Stones.
