Improving International Cooperation in Public Health Emergencies
The terms "emergency" and "disaster" have varying legal meanings depending on the state. Damage, injury, or loss of life or property on a large scale may be attributed to a variety of causes, natural or manmade.
Since 2009, the international scene has faced multiple public health emergencies, such as the swine flu pandemic, the polio declaration, the Ebola outbreak in Western Africa, the Zika virus epidemic, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the monkeypox outbreak.
Is there a way for nations to work together to develop a plan to deal with public health crises? Should health risks caused by aspects such as mass overdosing or crimes against humanity be treated as public health emergencies? Find out in the WHO committee at MUNtenia 2023!

The Chairpersons
Hello, delegates! My name is Daria, and I’m a sophomore at “George Coșbuc'' National Bilingual College.
I am beyond thrilled to be one of the chairpersons of the WHO committee at this edition of MUNtenia, along with my co-chairs, Amalia and Lucian. I would describe myself as a fun person, always looking for new challenges, and I want to make sure the delegates get to experience that as well. Other than that, I’m very passionate about medicine, and therefore I’m really excited to chair a committee that has a medically-oriented topic.
I hope all of the delegates will leave MUNtenia with more confidence in their debating skills and memories that they will remember for a long time!
Hello there, everyone! My name is Amalia, and I’m a junior at "Saint Sava" National College.
My dream since my first MUN conference has been to chair a WHO committee at some point since biology and chemistry are two of my major passions other than debate and international politics; therefore, I am thrilled to be part of this chairing team. Even though I was still a relative newcomer to the MUN scene when the inaugural MUNtenia was held, I believe that I have come a long way since then, and I cannot wait to provide you with at least as great of an experience as I had with my chairs over these three days of heated debate.
I'm thrilled to be sharing my first chairing experience with two incredible co-chairs, Daria and Lucian, and, most importantly, you, the delegates! I’m looking forward to seeing each and every one of you blossom into your fullest potential in January.
Hey guys!! I'm Lucian, a senior high schooler who, together with Amalia and Daria, will make sure that you get the best possible experience out of a WHO committee.
When it comes to describing myself, I could say that I'm a sociable and friendly person, always in search of new people to meet and befriend, while also loving MUNs and debate in general, going to debate competitions and MUNs since I was a sophomore.
There are no words to describe the excitement I have for this MUN and how I can’t wait to be a chair in the WHO committee, hopefully creating a fun and exciting experience from which you can learn so many things. So I can’t wait to see you on the committee, honourable delegates.
