The Russian Federation, that has been missing for almost the entire day, has finally revealed itself, and states in the very first seconds that China isn’t in the position to ask about the use of PMCs given the fact that they are willing to legalize it. Although Russia acknowledges that they have used PMCs and that they are helpful when needed, they do not want to be connected to them whatsoever. The Russian Federation states that even if the Wagner Group originates from Russia, it is not linked to the Russian government and the actions that they make are individual and do not represent Russia’s unanimous decisions.
Of course, we shall not believe these pretty lies. It is very well-known that Russia’s Secret Services work in the shadows, and they may or may not be linked to the Wagner Group and the advantages they bring through their training.
Russia, despite the fact that they just stated that they will provide help when needed, doesn’t know why they provided help in Kazakhstan using their PMCs, so can we truly say that the Russian Federation is trustful? Of course not.
“Anything that the French Republic states cannot be trusted by the Russian Federation”, shamelessly states Russia. Making a connection to what they have previously talked about, that being showing proof, we would now like to ask the Russian Federation to do the same.
Venezuela made the excellent point that even if Russia stated that they sent PMCs in order to help, the only one’s ever present in their country (that were not American) were part of the Wagner Group. Then how does that correspond with what Russia said first regarding the cooperation with the Wagner Group, that “presumably” being none? Well, as expected, the question was too much for Russia to handle. They contradicted themselves in a shameful way, finally agreeing that the Wagner Group is indeed connected to Russia.
With that being said, The Russian Federation has once again perished, leaving China in tears and Kazakhstan questioning life. As it seems, their only purpose here was to waste our time.
After an intense day from all points of view, a missing Russia, the tension between nations and a depressing gossip jar, we must announce that the first day of MUNtenia here, at the UNSC committee, is officially over. We are all looking forward to seeing what new alliances can be formed, what new perspectives will be outlined and if Russia will ever return.
Stay tuned to find out!
Since when is respecting Humanitarian Laws a choice?
This beautiful Saturday, the second day of MUNtenia has started energetically, with our dear delegates, even though tired from the explosive Social on Friday, have once again made themselves heard.
As usual, the Central African Republic, alongside China and Kazakhstan, have made their speeches in favor of using PMCs, and then followed by Syria, who, as a consequence of the UK agreeing with China previously, now basically declares war on the UK. “PMCs are not an option for us, but a necessity”, they state. Unfortunately, the UK is currently not present to hear these false accusations, as everything they are aiming for is to establish the proper use of PMCs, as well as a country’s transparency regarding the forces they use. Alongside the USA and France, which has been so aggressively attacked by the Russian Federation and Syria as well, they would like to create a document in which they specifically explain under which circumstances PMCs can be used - the best solution.
At the start of the motion for a Moderated Caucus about Finalizing Solutions, China states that they do not know the direct consequences of using PMCs in armed conflicts, so how can they be trusted, when they do not even think of what can happen when legalizing PMCs?
Syria attacks France yet again, stating that PMCs will forever exist in various countries and can be used by anyone at any time. “We do not see why PMCs shouldn’t be more than the military troops.” Kazakhstan agrees with another thing Syria said - “It is absurd to compare PMCs with drug dealers”, because they think PMCs are not the same as mercenaries and shouldn’t be treated like criminals.
France thinks that PMCs could be used as an extension for the army, but Kazakhstan states that it would be better to train the army. Outrageous!! Kazakhstan, even though they also support the USA’s idea, has just insulted the entire training of western armies, armies that have won two World Wars.
The Netherlands doesn’t understand why China wants to implement a legal framework for PMCs, since they think the PMCs are not to blame if they are doing something bad, since they get hired and paid to do them. We do not agree. PMCs initial purpose is to add an extension to a country’s army.
“Since when is respecting Humanitarian Laws a choice?” Venezuela directly addresses China. China follows with the following shocking answer: “The People’s Republic of China has never broken any Humanitarian Law.”
Venezuela also stated that “The Wagner Group has a bloody and inhumane history”, and a right of reply regarding that was not granted.
CHINA states that the Wagner Group does not actually exist, because they have not been considered an actual legal company, and they want to impose certain regulations specific for the WG and they ask why would they want to do that directly on them and not on the countries in which they have operated previously.
Venezuela says that the WG is actually registered in Argentina, and China admits that they were not aware of that.
Brazil: “We are not the SOCHUM committee - this is not a humanitarian crisis”, “Countries should decide whether they want to regulate their PMCs or not”. Brazil states that, as a nation, they do not have a problem with PMCs and that a problem that should actually be debated is how other countries' PMCs affect everyone.
The UK has finally made an appearance. We are glad to have him back.
We are thrilled to announce that an internal war has started between the Wagner Group, Venezuela and China. At first it seemed that they were on the same page, but we didn’t expect any less from our Orient fellows - they can not even sustain a proper alliance.
Syria has made the following shocking statement: “The only country in the Western Block that has actually maintained good stances was France”. So, even if the two of them were in conflict from the beginning, apparently a level of respect indeed exists between the two and that is something worth appreciating.
A powerful Unmoderated Caucus announced the beginning of the last day of MUNtenia, and the Blocks have been formed and working hard.
The Western block decided to collaborate with China and we are looking forward to seeing if they can lift up to the expectations of our beloved countries. An unexpected topic requires an unexpected alliance.
The People's Republic of China starts reading the resolution of the Western Block that proclaims the differentiation between PMCs and mercenaries, authorizes the creation of a Private Military Trade Association, strongly urges states to sanction the PMCs that are not operating by some specific rules and much more. China's arguments regarding why this resolution should be imposed were really strong and convincing.
The countries in favor of this resolution were: Syria and France, as well as Kazakhstan.
The countries against this resolution were: the UK and the Wagner Group.
With that being said, the Amendments were read and the delegates voted.
