Regulating the Activity of Private Military Contractors
Private military contractors - essentially what is known by the term of “mercenaries” - have proven divisive and difficult to counter throughout history. With the latest diplomatic institutions trying to find a common ground for legislation and regulations, there is no consensus being reached.
These private military contractors have various implications around the globe, ranging from state-coordinated policing groups to de facto leaders of countries, being what stands between the latest propped-up puppet regime and a new coup.
Is the better solution tight supervision of these organisations or increased operational liberties? Given the subject’s complexity and the academic proficiency of the presidents, join the Security Council!

The Presidents
Hello everyone!
My name is Maria Neagu and I am looking forward to chairing the SC committee at MUNtenia. Some things about me: I love international relations, history and in my free time I enjoy playing ping-pong.
Alongside my co-chair Horia, we will do our best for you to have an unforgettable experience!
See you at the conference!
Hello everyone! My name is Horia and it is my great pleasure to preside the Security Council of this edition of MUNtenia!
While I do not want to bore you all with details about myself, I do still want to tell you that MUNing has become throughout the last year one of my greatest passions, blending perfectly with my deep interest in geopolitical analysis, history, international politics and security policy-making - all these essential ingredients for a successful Security Council committee!
With all that being said, I cannot wait to preside a committee which promises to be the host of amazing debates, valuable ideas and great public speakers and to be of help in trotting your MUN journey alongside my co-president Maria.
See you all in January!
