The first day begins with some interesting suggestions to combat any ERW, proposed by Afghanistan which would mean implementing television ads made especially for children. This suggestion was supported by other countries including Columbia and Belgium.
While the other delegates come with possible solutions such as making improvements to hospitals and schools that could benefit everyone, Ukraine decides to be different and accuses Russia of being responsible for the UXO’s on their land and still hopes that they would sign The Mine Ban treaty so they could end the war on the Ukrainian land.
Moreover Bosnia states that the countries that didn’t sign the treaty should’t dare to ask for funds to help clear the UXO’s on their lands, because they can not be trusted. But what about the Islamic Republic of Iran, who clearly specified before that they didn’t sign, because of safety reasons. They are the most affected and, since they are not a big country, they need funds so they could clear the UXO zones. But of course, that is not important to Bosnia, so why bother to even think about it.
The second dar starts annoyingly with Ukraine being snappy with everyone, because the day before they have wasted so much time (15 minutes) on a useless discussion. They claim that millions of people would have died in that time and all they have done is talk in vain. The only thing that Ukraine has done until now is obsess over Russia and now they suggest that everyone should focus on other problems, including land pollution, which was Russia’s original idea. So now they steal their suggestions.
During a conversation about finding methods for a more efficient clearance of UXOs, Israel finally has the courage to criticize Ukraine for prioritizing the finding of the UXO’s and mapping them, and also for wanting to choose the long term solution path. The bigger problem is clearly protecting people’s lives and moving them into safe areas so they could clear the zones faster and better. They want to act as fast as possible, but Ukraine doesn’t seem to do so, since every time they open their mouth they choose to criticize (mostly Russia).
Since the beginning, many solutions have been offered, but this time Columbia decides to add a new one, which is using x-ray scans or radars to help provide safety since the exact location of the UXO’s is unknown. The search parties with sniffing dogs can go after and defuse them. Canada finds this method cheap. Why be cheap when there are other countries that could fund them?To this question, Columbia simply replies that they are wrong. Why? Well training the dogs takes time and money, they even need to find good dogs that could be trained, so it isn’t really cheap as their fellow ally said.
Adding to what Columbia has talked about before, Irak warmly asks them “for the sake of Allah” to stop considering tracking dogs as a solution. It takes too much time to train them. They also add that the other countries don’t seem to really care about human lives as it appears from the conversations held so far. But do they, because from what Iran says next it seems that what Irak says applies to themselves too. They attacked Iran before they invaded them. What right do they have to talk about human rights when they don’t even respect them?
France has created an organization named UNEOD (United Nations Explosive Ordnance Detachment) which focuses only on defusing the UOXs, unlike UNMAS, which is mostly addressing peacekeeping. Irak is curious and asks them what could they do to help the countries that are currently in conflict, but the answer is quite different from what is expected. France states that the countries at war should first resolve their conflict and then they would get the help needed for clearance of the UXOs. This answer infuriates Ukraine, who is currently at “war” with Russia and in response they accuse them of doing nothing, but “appreciate” the other solutions proposed. Still, they like a method proposed by France, which is making teams of trained men to defuse bombs. There would be three men on every team with three different purposes, so they could be sure there are no casualties.
It’s the last day, and even now, Ukraine isn’t done with Russia. Why try to cooperate when you can just comment and point out every single “mistake” the Russian Federation makes? Ukraine repeatedly tries to put pressure on them to make them accept the creation of the humanitarian corridor idea, but they still end up being refused.
