Science stands behind innovation, which in turn drives economic development. Open innovation and commons-based peer production are the main threads running through the p2p economy. Get out of the institutional box ! Science is about exchange of ideas, passion, creativity, thirst for knowledge, etc. Stick to the basics, appreciate individuals and their potential, not their diplomas and titles!

Maintain a creative environment: If you are in charge of a lab, don't be a "command and control" type of manager. Be a community leader.

Your lab in not just your instruments and the people working WITH you (not FOR you!), it extends through your social networks and through the social networks of those working with you.
