The wrongful termination case you know might look as an isolated case, one that you can easily attribute to a jerk, in the same way you can attribute a shooting to a gang member, or to a fight that finished in disaster. But when you see a pattern, when violence becomes the norm, the violence problem becomes communal, and it must be dealt with by conjoint action. Great number of wrongful termination case are only the symptom of a systemic problem.
We will create a website very well interconnected within the virtual world, and reaching out to the real world through classical mass media, activist organizations, and real live events. This website will support and enhance the Boomerang technique.
One role of his website is to act as a popular public scene where individuals shout their employment stories, denouncing malpractices. Their words will propagate effectively through the Internet and reach different channels that will expel them into the real world. The fundamental idea is to target reputation of bad employers, a very important social asset for commercial organizations.
The user will be assisted and guided during the editing of his/her employment horror story by automated systems, by other users, and by individuals committed to this cause and working to maintain and improve this website/community. All tools necessary for the SPRAY and the STALKING techniques will also be embedded in this website.
This website will also be a repository of employment horror stories,
provided with analytic tools, which will help extract patterns of bad behavior on individual employers. These patterns can be used by activists, human rights organizations, and labor organizations against these bad companies. But let’s not sink into negativity! This site will also give space for “good” companies to contribute positively to employment conditions, and to help individuals in distress.
Other type of resources will also be available to empower the individual, to help employees through their employment problems and rebuild their careers.
Another role of the site will be to organize grassroots movements for the general goal of improving employment conditions, but also to tackle specific issues (like picketing a Wall-Mart store for example).
