Professionalism

in Medicine

Briefing

2nd Year

Professionalism in Medicine is a series of lectures held by doctors, where professionalism will be discussed in different areas of medicine. Your presence in the lectures is required, as no credits will be held during the classes.

During 22/23 and 23/24, you had to pay attention to the information provided by the Class Rep, since the locations changed due to renovations. It took place in person.

4th Year

It was a 1-week course consisting of seminars only that concluded with an essay. No lectures. The course was mostly conducted online on Blackboard, except for 1 day in person at the 2nd Department of Nephrology and Hypertension with Dialysis Unit. Check the schedule on their website for more information.

Important:Before classes, know where it will take place because it might change quickly and since you wil not yet be acustomed with the hospital, it might be difficult to find!

Assessment

Essays

To pass the course, in addition to attendance, you will have to write an essay according to the rules and topics provided during the seminars. All information will be provided by the departments. The essay needs to be submitted via your student e-mail by the end of the semester.

What is the essay about? You will need to watch out for topic announcements from the teacher. Usually, the essay is centered around your personal positive or negative experiences with healthcare, or your opinions on professional and ethical behaviours in the hospital setting.

Note: For 23/24, the credit for the second year was received only by attendance, no essay needed to be written.

Pass/Failassessment

Credit

At the end of the course, you will be given a simple task chosen by the doctors.

Completing this task plus course attendance was enough to get the credit.

No grade enters your transcript, as this is a Pass/Fail subject.
