What is College Credit Plus (CCP)?

College Credit Plus (CCP) is an opportunity for students (grades 7-12) to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from colleges and/or universities. Ohio’s College Credit Plus Program can help students earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from colleges and/or universities. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Students may replace middle school courses with CCP equivalent courses with the permission of the middle school counselor and principal.

Important to Note:

FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT OF 1974 (FERPA)

As the parent of a college student, even one who is a minor, your role will be different than it has been. Per the U.S. Department of Education, "if a student is attending a postsecondary institution- at any age- the rights under FERPA have transferred to the student. Access to a student's college records by parents or guardians is only permitted when a written release of information is signed by the student. Students still maintain rights under FERPA at the high school and may inspect and review records send by the postsecondary institution to the high school." Please read examples below of high school accomodations no longer appropriate at the college level.

All CCP students (MS and HS) who take a CCP equivalent course for High School credit in the following subjects, must also take the standardized, End-of-Course (EOC) state exams associated with that subject. These tests provide points needed towards students' graduation. The 6 tested subjects are:

First 15 in the CCP Program

According to the College Credit Plus legislation, college courses taken in the first 15 hours of a student's participation must be transferable, part of a technical certificate program or pathway, a study skills or academic success course, or in the areas of computer science, information technology, anatomy, physiology, foreign language, or American Sign Language. These courses are called "Level 1" courses. You will want to contact the CCP Advisor at the college of your choice to find out what courses are considered "Level 1" at their college.
