About The Program

Ft. Bragg Family Medicine Residency offers an unparalleled experience for learning through serving over 50,000 active duty members and even more dependents and retirees without the opposition of an internal medicine residency. You will have access to a broad range of specialists for educational opportunities while remaining very close to the active duty population and operational experiences. "The program fosters an environment where duty hours are taken seriously, and the stress of residency is balanced by camaraderie, active faculty mentors, dedicated resident advocacy, evidence-based self-care built into curriculum, and scheduled extracurricular activities. We firmly believe that a Family medicine physician must be well-rounded in academics, clinical experience, and life-goals outside of medicine to truly relate to and serve patients in a primary care setting" (Residency website).

As an interviewing medical student you can expect to split your time between inpatient and outpatient care. You will be expected to see patients on your own, write a history and physical, propose an assessment and plan, and document your findings in AHLTA/Essentris (the military EHR). Residency PT occurs every Wednesday after academics (definitely go if you want to make the best impression!).

Be sure to bring OCPs for clinic, inpatient things of your choice (fleece, lightweight jacket, sneakers, danskos/crocs, white coat), and PT uniform for Wednesday afternoon PT.
