About The Program

Martin Army Community Hospital Family Medicine Residency program serves a large population of active duty soldiers, their families, and retirees. It hosts a large population of combat arms units and training schools which places the residency in a unique position to be involved in operational aspects of medicine. The program is the only residency located at MACH which provides an unopposed opportunity to work in all aspects of medicine including emergency medicine, internal medicine, and OBGYN. ICU and specialty clinic experiences are provided at the local city hospital, and opportunities are available to travel for other electives.

Ft. Benning is a large base but most of what you would need is centrally located around the hospital, including the PX, gym, commissary, and Abrams Hall (on post IHG hotel).

As a student, you can expect to work 2 weeks in family medicine and sports medicine clinic, 1 week on L&D/nursery, and 1 week on inpatient medicine. You will receive a computer when you inprocess and will be expected to perform an H&P and document your findings. You will have many opportunities in sports medicine clinic to do joint injections.

You will be expected to play frisbee with the residency on Tuesday evenings from 1715-1830 for PT. You can wear civilian PTs. ATTENDING FRISBEE IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A GOOD IMPRESSION!
