About The Program

Program size: Average 7 per class

Opposition: (An opportunity more than opposition!): EM, IM, Neuro, OB, Ophtho, Ortho, ENT, Pathology, Pediatrics, Prev Med, Radiology, Surgery, Urology, and Transitional Year

Overview: MAMC Family Medicine maintains a comprehensive training experience that takes advantage of being in a tertiary-care Medical Center on a large, operationally-focused post with numerous FORSCOM units. The faculty are an even mix of civilian and uniformed with a variety of prior duty experiences and locations. We are focused on maintaining a supportive and trusting culture that enables learning and development as we train the next generation of full scope family medicine physicians and medical corps officers. Tacoma, WA is located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with abundant natural and social spaces to explore.

The hospital is located just down the road from the commissary and PX, and there are multiple gyms on base. Expect to see a lot of helicopters on training missions during your time here, as the airfield is located even closer to the hospital than the commissary is! To catch a beautiful view of Mt. Rainier during sunrise/sunset on a clear day, head to the top floor of the inpatient building and look out the windows right by the elevator.
