Elevation Change:  -9,900 ft

Difficulty:  Normal

It's another classic Glacier track.    It starts at 11,880 ft, but drops fast enough so you can race just about any plane in the sim.   Even the lowly CTSL (in the base version of MSFS) can complete this course without much trouble.   So you'll find the replay value quite high.

Beginning at Ankenballi peak, the course seems to take you on a scenic tour of Hangendgletscherhorn peak before depositing you on the glacier floor for a bit of a slalom run.     I wasn't able to determine the exact translation of Hangendgletscherhorn, but if I had to guess, I took it to mean something similar to "Don't crash and burn up here.  They won't find your body for days".     That's probably not an exact translation, but whatever it means, it can't be good.  This is rugged country.

After some fairly tame turns on the glacier, we cross a couple of bodies of glacier-melt water as we descend to the picturesque turquoise waters of Mattenalpsee.   The peaceful waters of lake Mattenalp and your last chance to breath is quickly shattered as we dive down a narrow passageway to a small valley of farmland where we see just how close to a rock wall the sim will allow.  At this point you might start to think that PapaMeesh might not be "all there" if this is his idea of a fun track.   And you may be right.    Future race tracks should clarify these and other questions.    But in the meantime, just keep your virtual life insurance up-to-date and try to stay alive.

Just a few slalom turns to help separate the slow planes from the quick ones lead to another quick drop into Innertkirchen.   From here, the obvious path follows the Aare river that takes us to Meiringen.   An empty lot next to the finish line got converted to a small secondary airport with 4 hangars and a viewing stand at the finish line.    To be fair, this little airport is so tranquil that it proves itself to be just a distraction from the horrible death that awaits you should you make any innocent mistake further up the mountain.    But should you make it this far, have a seat on the bleachers (compliments of PBK) and watch the rest of the survivors cross the finish line.

This contrast between the beauty of nature and certain flaming death will re-appear more frequently as you make your way through the list of race courses in this collection.     You're welcome.
