HMB-19

Type: Hillclimb

Location: New Zealand

Gates:  63

Elevation Change:  8,100 ft

Difficulty: Medium

Here's a new race course type:   Hillclimb.     It will resemble a downhill run except (as you might already have guessed because you're that smart) it runs uphill instead.   The underpowered planes don't get much help here.   HMB-19 starts with an easy climb up a river bed.   It's got some surprises, but the real test comes when you reach the back end of a box canyon...and the only path forward is "up".

Up, that is, until you reach the top, and you have this truly wicked drop as seen in the 4th picture below.   Yes, it's nearly vertical and really fun.  Especially when you're trying to go as fast as possible.

If you have the horsepower, you can traverse directly from one pylon to the next.  If not, you're faced with making some circles while you climb.   Either way, the more efficient you are at the climb, the better your score will be.   Remember:  The terrain and the pylons (and the wicked tendencies of the track designer)  are merely the great Equalizers.  Pilot skill will make the difference here.  Bring your "A" game.
