HMB-1

Type:   Glacier Downhill

Location: High in the Alps

Gates: 47

Elevation Change: -5000 ft

Difficulty:  Normal

You begin at Eggstock peak with an elevation of approximately 11,600ft.    As you try to keep your mind on the pylons instead of the jaw-dropping views, the race course will drop fairly quickly until it's time to cross the glacier and do a little bit of modest climbing.   It's your last chance to catch your breath before the track gets hairy and tries to kill you.

This section will certainly be an issue for some of the lowest powered aircraft, so energy management among the LSA's will be necessary.    As you pass some of the creatively placed pylons that are awkwardly too close to sheer rock walls, you'll start to get a sense of the devious nature of most MeeshTrax designs.     There's a 90-degree right turn with a quick drop that is the highlight of this track, and quite a nice thrill-ride...especially in VR.

The course is fairly short as it only drops to about 5,000 ft.    But don't get too lazy.    Be careful about that last drop down into the valley near Realp, Switzerland.   It's quite steep, and you might find that you're going so fast near that last blue pylon that your turn radius has begun to suffer due to elasticity of your control surfaces.     The cold, hard ground awaits you....
