The university aims to maintain affordable, sustainable, and healthy choices of food for all. It implements measures to ensure that the canteen offers nutritious meals and monitors the food waste to promote responsible consumption within the campus.
MCU on Zero Hunger
I. Campus Food Waste
MCU generates approximately 68 tons of organic waste per year and treats the waste through different sustainability practices. The university continues its composting activities, reused leaf litter for landscaping, and turned biodegradable waste into compost and soil enhancers.
II. Student Hunger
The Campus Development Department is in charge of the canteen concessionaires of the university. To maintain affordable, sustainable, and healthy choices on foods, these guidelines are provided to all concessionaires.
The university canteen is operating from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM serving the following foods and beverages to students and employees: rice meals, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, snacks, desserts, juices, and bottled water.
During different activities and programs, several food merchants are being invited to sponsor and provide food options to students and employees.
