II. Sustainable Practices
MCU allows remote working for employees as a matter of policy or standard practice, or offer a condensed working week to reduce employee commuting.
The university measures the number of vehicles that are managed by the university and vehicles entering and exiting the university through the RFID System, which limits the registrants to 1,200 users only.
To promote a more sustainable and eco-friendly campus, several initiatives have been implemented to reduce parking spaces and encourage greener modes of transportation. Parking within the campus is intentionally limited to 200 slots to minimize vehicle use and reduce carbon emissions. Two electric golf carts serve as campus shuttles, providing students and staff with a convenient and emission-free way to travel around the university. To further promote sustainable mobility, bicycle use is highly encouraged through the provision of secure and accessible bike parking areas.
MCU places strong emphasis on pedestrian safety, accessibility, and comfort within its campus. Clearly designated pedestrian pathways, marked with visible signage and maintained regularly, ensure safe and convenient movement for all campus users. These walkways are strategically designed to connect essential areas such as classrooms, offices, laboratories, dormitories, and recreational spaces.
MCU ensures that building and renovating new buildings adheres to sustainable standards. This includes adhering to the smart building implementation, focused on use of water and energy-efficient appliances such as water-saving faucets and toilets, LED lights, and energy saving air conditioner.
