The Office of the President highlights university leadership initiatives and achievements, with a focus on Dr. Renato C. Tanchoco's pivotal role in Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities' Committee on Institutional Quality Improvement. Dr. Tanchoco's dedicated service as a committee member underscores the institution's commitment to advancing institutional excellence.
MCU became a member of the United Nations Academic Impact, a global initiative that brings together institutions of higher education to promote and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a member of UNAI, MCU is committed to working with other institutions to advance the SDGs through education, research, and community engagement.
Manila Central University is proud to announce that it has become an official associate member of the ASEAN University Network (AUN-QA). The AUN-QA is a regional quality assurance network that aims to promote and enhance the quality of higher education in the ASEAN region. This membership provides MCU a wealth of knowledge and tools to enhance the quality of education and opportunities to actively engage in AUN-QA’s various activities and programs, creating a culture of continuous improvement within the institution.Â
MCU has joined the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), a global network of academic institutions dedicated to improving global health. MCU is the second Philippine higher education institution to join CUGH. This will enable the institution to play a leading role in advancing global health education, research, and service in the country. MCU students and faculty will also have access to many resources and opportunities to learn and grow in global health.Â
MCU’s collaboration with Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) includes the responsibility of sharing educational resources, research and as well as volunteer acts for its programs.
The sustainable journey of MCU started as it entered a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with SolarNRG Philippines. The heart of this significant event lies MCU’s steadfast commitment to sustainability, which drives us towards a greener and eco-friendly campus. SolarNRG Group is a solar industry for more than 16 years that provides services internationally.
Centralinos participated on the 3rd International Convention on Student Affairs and Services held in Baguio City 2023. This highlights the dedication of our talented representatives but also underscore our institution’s commitment to the principles of Sustainable Development Goals.

Memorandum of Agreement with PPhA CaMaNaVa Chapter
In partnership with the DENR NCR, MCU have taken responsibility for a one-hectare area at the La Mesa Watershed, where we are actively engaged in tree growing activities. This event aims to raise awareness and help protect life on land and mitigate climate change.
Together with Philippine Red Cross-Caloocan City Chapter, MCU Red Cross Youth Council, and MCU Community Relations Office, as well as MCU College of Medicine, MCU College of Arts and Sciences, and MCU Basic Education Department on October 2024.
The research agenda was primarily anchored on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations and also based on the research priorities outlined in the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA), the Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA), and the National Higher Education Research Agenda (NHERA).

The Community Relations Office (CRO) spearheaded several outreach programs throughout the year, significantly impacting the local community. The total donations for community relations activities amounted to ₱2,028,114.51, with the majority coming from in-kind contributions.

Through university initiative and collaborations with our partners, various activities were conducted to develop and measure the sustainability literacy of the students, faculty, and the community.
The MCU Student Affairs and Services (SAS), in collaboration with the National Service Training Program (NSTP), organized a Seminar and Advocacy GADthering on March 14, 2024, which featured Ms. Marybeth Nave, Senior Communication Specialist at Fluor Philippines. She discussed this year’s theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.” This celebration of Gender and Development was attended by students and staff, emphasizing the importance of accelerating efforts toward achieving a more inclusive society.
A campus-wide preparedness drill was conducted, involving all students, teaching staff, and non-teaching personnel. This drill ensured full participation and significantly improved the awareness and readiness of the MCU community in emergency situations.
An unannounced community fire drill was conducted at MCU to test the evacuation procedures. Both students and employees participated, familiarizing themselves with the designated evacuation areas and improving overall response during emergencies.

This research by Senior High School students explores the potential of converting human and food sources into biogas for renewable energy. It addresses waste management challenges while offering an innovative solution for electricity generation, contributing to both environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
The Psychology faculty actively participated in various professional gatherings, including the Educational Psychology PAP and St. Scholastica’s College Manila Psychology Webinar Series and the UST Environmental Psychology International Conference. These events focused on global issues such as climate change and the development of effective mentoring strategies for sustainable employment. Through their engagement in these initiatives, the faculty ensures that they remain well-informed about the UN SDGs, enabling them to impart sustainability-oriented knowledge and practices to their students.
