What is KAPS exam
KAPS mean Knowledge Assessment of Pharmaceutical Science. This is an evaluation system conducted by the Australian Pharmacy Council. Each year, there are usually three KAPS happens in a number of major cities internationally including five test centers in India at Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi . When any candidate have passed the KAPS exam, the candidate becomes eligible to practice the pharmacy profession in Australia.

Steps to become Australian Pharmacist
Step 1: Documents assessment for APC (Create a student portal on Australian Pharmacy Council website using scanned copy of your Passport, certificate of Pharmacy degree, Academic transcript, Overseas registration certificate) > Step 2: Book KAPS test > Step 3: If passed, prepare for IELTS or PTE (Overall band 7 in each module is required) > Step 4: Apply for provisional registration at AHPRA > Step 5: Search for compulsory intern positions and complete > Step 6: Written & oral exam during or at the end of internship > Step 7: If pass the both, CONGRATULATIONS to become Aussie Pharmacist!

Skilled occupation immigration pathway
On 29 July 2021, the Minister for Immigration announcedexternal icon the inclusion of pharmacists on the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL). The new occupations are (including ANZSCO codes): Hospital Pharmacist (ANZSCO Code: 251511), Retail Pharmacist (ANZSCO Code: 251513), Industrial Pharmacist (ANZSCO Code: 251512), Pharmacy Technician (ANZSCO Code: 251515) and Sales Representative (Medical and Pharmaceutical Products) (ANZSCO Code: 225412) are in the skilled occupation list.
