Meetings
what do we do?
Each meeting, AED invites a different speaker to come talk to our members and share their experience in the medical field. We have had a wide variety of physicians, deans, and even med students share their journey with us! Meetings usually start with updates from the executive board about upcoming events and then transition to our speaker for that meeting. Meetings typically end with a short Q&A session where members can ask the speakers any questions they may have.
This week's meeting
Dr. Samir patel
During this week's meeting, AED welcomes Dr. Patel, a pain management physician at the NeuroMedical Center!
As a reminder, AED is a professional organization and we emphasize the importance of respect during our meetings. With this in mind, please refrain from the use of electronic devices while our speaker is presenting!
When:
Tuesday, November 19th at 7:00pm
where:
103 Williams
The full Spring meeting schedule can be found on the Home page!
Meeting point requirement
All AED members are required to attend at least 3 general meetings each semester. Each meeting you attend will earn you 1 meeting point.
Attendance is taken each meeting using the mobile app Flare. At the end of a meeting, the executive board will scan your QR code that can be found in Flare. If you need help with finding the QR code, feel free to ask anyone on the executive board for assistance!
Meeting Excuses
There are two ways to get meeting excuses; both involve an LSU or MCAT class conflicting with AED general meetings.
In the first case, you may have a class scheduled on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings preventing you from attending all six AED general meetings.
In the second case, you may have a class scheduled on either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, preventing you from attending three AED general meetings. You are expected to attend the three other meetings, but there is a possibility of an excuse if an LSU-excused absence prevents you from attending one of the three general meetings you can attend. You will still need to attend two AED general meetings to be considered an active member.
Please complete the Fall 2024 Meeting Excuse Form if these circumstances apply to you. The deadline for meeting excuses is November 29th at 11:59 pm. If you have any questions or concerns, please email our secretary, Jacob, at aedemail@gmail.com.
