Preceptorships

Preceptorships are one-time learning opportunities for students in which they gain hands-on experience in a health care setting under the guidance of a physician experienced in their field. Preceptorships are available to all AED members. They are not point opportunities, but they are great resume builders and give you a head start on discovering which field of medicine you may be interested in pursuing.

If you are interested in participating, please contact aedpreceptorship@gmail.com with your name, classification (freshmen, sophomore, etc.), and the name of the top physician you are interested in shadowing. You may shadow multiple physicians a semester.

Preceptorship rules & Limitations

• One Shadow per Physician: You may shadow the same physician only once.

• Maximum of Three Physicians: You may be matched with a maximum of three different physicians per semester.

• Monthly Sign-Up Limit: You may submit the shadowing request Google Form only once per month (due on the 7th).

• Membership Requirement: You must be an Associate Member or National Member to participate in shadowing opportunities.

• No Direct Contact: Do not contact physicians or organizations directly regarding shadowing opportunities unless you have received specific permission to do so.

• Post-Shadowing Form Required: You must complete the post-shadowing form after each shadowing experience. Failure to complete the form will make you ineligible for future shadowing matches.

Getting Started
