President's Message

Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) is Louisiana State University’s pre-professional health honor society dedicated to pre-medical students. AED serves as a student organization to provide its members with service opportunities in the Greater Baton Rouge community and to expose them to a wide variety of medical specialties. Our goal is to help build successful medical school applicants that are compassionate and community focused. AED strives to provide our members with service, clinical, and leadership opportunities.

AED holds meetings every two weeks designed to expose students to career options within the healthcare field. At each meeting, guest speakers share their experiences, advice, and guidance with our members. These speakers include medical students, residents, and physicians of numerous specialties including cardiology, internal medicine, and pediatrics. In addition, we annually host our Dean’s Convocation where the Deans of Admission from both LSU medical schools speak on what they look for in applicants. This event allows our members to network and connect with the Deans. We also host a Mock Interview with one of the Deans to prepare our members for the rigors of the interview process. We believe in the power of community service as future medical professionals, so we provide our members with numerous opportunities to volunteer in the Greater Baton Rouge Area and on LSU’s campus including Hearts and Hooves, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Mighty Moms, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

I am honored to serve as the 2021-2022 AED President, and I will continuously work to better the organization for each and every one of you! I have served on the AED Executive Board for the past two years, so I am prepared and excited to assume the role of president. If you are a current member or are considering joining, please feel free to email me or any of the officers with any questions. We are eager and ready to serve you! I am looking forward to having a productive and monumental year for AED!

For anyone looking to buy or sell used textbooks or MCAT prep materials from other AED members, view our online book sale here. To add your own books to the sale, add in the information on the bottom of the spreadsheet. Note that MCAT prep materials are on the second sheet. AED Social Media Campaign Service Opportunity

Vaccine Ambassadors has invited the LSU chapter of AED to join them for a social media campaign celebrating vaccines.

To participate and earn 1/3 of a service point, follow these steps:

  1. Fill out this form, including a quote of why you support global immunization and a picture of yourself. Please refer to this sample graphic to view the format.

  2. Minimum donation of $5 to Alpha Epsilon Delta on Venmo (@aedlsu) that will be sent at the end of the month to Vaccine Ambassadors to continue their mission of bringing critical vaccines to children in underserved areas.
