PSU is effectively “Riot Police”, however we deal with more than just riots. PSU officers often find themselves:
Maintaining cordons
Executing Low-Medium-High risk raids
Defending properties of interest (MRPS, Pillbox etc…)
Pro-actively patrolling Los Santos as a strong police presence
Referring to ourselves as Riot Police often gives a bad connotation of what we do. Our interests are not in riots, if a riot has occurred - then something has already failed and its down to PSU trained officers to ensure the safety of people and property through de-escalation tactics and use of force in line with PLAN (Proportionate, Legal, Accountable, Necessary)
To join the Police Support Unit (PSU), officers who are interested should submit an interest form found below in the respective PSU levels.
This enables us to assess their suitability for the unit and initiate the necessary steps for their potential inclusion.
To be eligible to join the public safety unit an officer must:
Have served in the Los Santos Police Service as a Police Constable for at least 14 days.
Be a member of Response, RPU or CID.
No warnings relating to UoF within the last 14 days,.
The patience to deal with public order incidents.
The ability to work with teammates and to hold a cordon.
Be Taser trained. You can apply here.
The basic level of PSU means an officer has received their basic level training for Public order prevention and conflict management, they will have access to the following:
Speedo Express
Riot Clothing (including Riot Helmet)
Riot Shields
Smoke Launcher
Tear Gas
Angle Grinder (Sgt+ to access)
Water Cannon (Sgt+ to access)
Once you have become a Basic level PSU officer you can put in an interest form to become Advanced level Certified and may be invited to an advanced PSU training. However people are only selected from showing active dedication to deploying and supporting during PSU Operations/Deployments.
The Advanced level is a PSU officer who has demonstrated great trust and great use of PSU assets in the right situations, they have received training in the use of the beanbag launcher and house raiding scenarios.
The Advanced level of PSU means an officer has received their Advanced level training for Public order prevention and conflict management, they will have access to the following:
Bean Bag Launcher
PSU uniform may only be worn by an officer who has received Basic training and and a PSU deployment has been authorised.
We have 2 variants on our PSU Uniform;
The unarmoured variant enables easier maneuverability however provides less protection from any damage that might present itself to the officer.
This uniform is primarily used for Low-Med Risk Situations.
The armoured variant provides more protection from any damage that might present itself to the officer however hinders maneuverability of the officer.
This uniform is primarily used for Med-High Risk Situations.
PSU - Team helmet - Blue
There is 4 seperate team helmets. For which one to wear you will be assigned into teams at the start of the deployment by the Incident Commander. Each team will fall under their call-signs.
PSU - Incident Commander helmet - Red
Each deployment will have an incident commander assigned, who will wear the red helmet. You may have more than one incident commander if there is a need.
PSU - Sgt+ helmet - White
Sgt+ have access to and are encourage to wear the helmet to make it easier for officers on scene to find a supervising officer for additional support.
PSU Assets
PSU Van
Speed: 115MPH
Seats: 6 Inside(4 personnel + 2 Containment)
The Vapid Speedo Express is our basic patrol vehicle. It is used to transport personnel to PSU deployment sites. Once a Deployment has been authorised you may utilise this vehicle for your patrols.
It should be noted that this vehicle is a Personnel Carrier and should not be getting involved within pursuits where possible. You are fine to initially start a pursuit however must break off when an additional unit is there or if the pursuit becomes a danger to the personnel inside.
Water Cannon
Speed: 70MPH
Seats: 4 Inside(4 on the outside however should be avoided)
The water cannon may only be deployed in the most high-risk circumstances and as such required the authorisation PSU SGT -> Response Command. This authorisation should be taken note of either in writing or through other evidential types such as BWV.
When transporting the water cannon, an escort of 1 or more marked cars using lights and sirens is required. The Water Cannon is also equipped with lights and Sirens for dispersal needs.
When a water cannon is deployed it must have at least 2 officers inside it at all times unless one is injured in which case the other officer should aim to get the asset to safety.
Shorts bursts are only to be used after proper prior warnings to remove individuals from the top of the water cannon.
The bean bag launcher is provided to trusted officers in PSU that display a strong knowledge of the use of force and have a high understanding of PSU policy and tactics. They will be deemed advanced trained.
It is to be used for medium/high-risk property warrants where and when manning a cordon for incidents of high or expected high public disorder. It can also be pulled out to protect a Police Station.
Carry is only to be authorised by PSU SGT -> PSU Trainers -> Response Command -> Any Sgt+ with advanced Training/ Response sergeant.
Discharge of the baton launcher on a deployment does not require authorisation, however - officers must be prepared to answer to command when asked about their discharge. Any action found to be classed as misuse of force will be met with disciplinary action.
The Smoke Launcher can be carried by anyone trained in the basic level of PSU. It is authorised to be carried as part of a deployment or if deemed necessary by the PSU Sgt -> Response Command.
An angle grinder may be issued to an advanced PSU officer who has received MOE training by a Sergeant+ to allow them to gain entry to a property or storage container. When this equipment is issued it should be noted down who the issuing sergeant was as well as the officer it was issued to. Once the incident has concluded the angle grinder should be returned to the police armoury immediately.
Pro-active carry of the angle grinder is only authorised for PSU Sergeants, Response Command and POLCOM.
Basic PSU trained officers may carry tear gas if authorised to do so by a deployment.
Tear gas may only be used if the incident commander authorises it and they may only do so if:
There is a serious threat to public order or the safety of officers by multiple individuals;
A verbal warning has been given that tear gas will be used.
Once the incident has been concluded the tear gas must be returned to the armoury immediately.
Never tear gas without proper prior warnings
PSU may be deployed in any of the following circumstances:
The incident of High public disorder or expected High public disorder;
Officers attending an operation/warrant deemed to be a medium/high risk;
The above types of deployments and all other types of deployment can be authorised by any response Command or PSU Sgt > PSU Trainer -> Response Sgt-> any INSP+ they must however also have the basic Public Order Training to authorise a deployment.
A deployment can be stopped at any time by PSU Command, an officer one rank superior to the one authorising(however they would normally reach out to PSU command or Sub Unit Inspector for them to deal with the de-authorisations) or Frontline Command (if they have basic or advanced PSU training).
RPU/CID/Firearms PC - Sgt and Response PC's(who are not PSU Trainers): Cannot authorise PSU Deployments.
Once PSU has been authorised to deploy, an incident commander should be appointed. This will generally be the PSU Lead, failing this moving to PSU trainers before Sergeants with Level 1 or 2 (1 taking priority). However anyone who wants to step up may do so.
Incident Commander uses the callsign RX-0, along with any other officers with them.
Incident Commander (IC)
Any officer willing to lead the PSU during a deployment can be IC. However people such as PSU lead and PSU trainers reserve the right to take priority if there are certain needs required for an operation.
An Incident Commander will be needed for the following situations:
During a Proactive Patrol.
CID Support (eg. Property Raids).
RPU Support (eg. Vehicle Seizures).
Protection of people or assets (eg. Protecting City Hall).
As IC, you are responsible for coordinating units, managing resources, and directing operational priorities. At times, you will need to speak up and be commanding to make sure your assets are conducting themselves correctly. You must make sure to not sound condescending, but encouraging to keep everything running efficiently.
Core Duties
Direct the PSU operation from start to finish.
Assign personnel to specific roles and tasks, as well as callsigns.
Make tactical decisions:
Raids: Decide who enters, who holds the perimeter.
Proactive Patrol: Assign patrol routes and checkpoints (e.g., Pillbox, Courthouse).
Monitor deployment coverage to ensure all assigned areas remain manned and effective.
Ensure vehicle assets are refueled, repaired and restocked after a deployment.
Writing out and incident report for the deployment.
Adopt Callsign RX-0
Assign Unit callsigns RX-’x’ to designated raid positions.
Patrol Deployment. Split PSU officers between vans for maximum coverage.
Authorise Force Levels. Clearly state the level of force permitted for the operation.
“Today, we are going to be raiding ‘X’ gang on their turf. We have 2 entrances into their compound and we are tasked with holding these, so no one unauthorised enters”.
“Team for today is”:
Sgt Stevens
Insp White
Insp Trusdale
Sgt Clarks
Sgt Strange
PC Mahly
PC Jackson
“White, Clarks and Strange will go onto RX-1. You will be tasked with manning the northern entrance, setting up a cordon and holding it down. Trusdale, Mahly and Jackson, you will be RX-2 and take the eastern entrance. I (Stevens) will be RX-0. I will straddle between both cordons to manage our resources and be there for any questions needed”.
As you can see from this briefing, it provides exactly what each team will be doing, removing any ambiguity. There is no need to guess, as you are told. Once you arrive on scene, preparations can start immediately with no time wasted which leads to the site being secured quicker.
Stay mobile: Be ready to reposition to problem areas.
Communicate clearly: Short, precise radio calls prevent confusion.
Confirm understanding: Have officers repeat back key orders if needed.
Once PSU has been asked to deploy an incident report must be created using the following structure:
PSU Deployment - [SITUATION] - [Date]
Authorising officer:

Level 1 Officers:
Level 2 Officers:
Smoke Launcher: Yes/No

If you are requesting authorisation to carry a specific piece of equipment or requesting a deployment of any kind you should approach the following people first. PSU Lead -> Response Command -> PSU Trainer -> Anyone at the rank/requirement to authorise as per context between 6.0 and onwards. This order is always followed, especially for remote authorisation (Out of game).
Deployment and permissions can be given through Discord with the correct info however ensure you tag @PSU Command & @Support Command who will be required to authorise this.
Deployments - PSU Sgt> Response Command > PSU Trainer > Inspector with basic training -> Response SGT
Angle Grinder - PSU Sgt -> Sub Unit Insp -> Response Command -> Any Inspector+ with min basic Training.
Smoke Launcher - PSU Sgt -> Sub Unit Insp -> PSU Trainers -> Response Command -> Any Inspector+ with min basic Training -> Any Sergeant with min basic.
Tear Gas - PSU Sgt -> Sub Unit Insp ->PSU Trainers -> Response Command -> Any Inspector+ with min basic Training -> Any Sergeant with min basic.
Water Cannon - PSU Sgt -> Sub Unit Insp -> Response Command
Bean Bag Launcher - PSU Sgt -> Sub Unit Insp -> PSU Trainers -> Response Command -> Any Sergeant+ with advanced Training
Helmet Armour - PSU Sgt -> Sub Unit Insp -> Response Command
Ensure the above structure is followed at all times. Working from first to last.
To Note - Response Command (Insp+) and PSU Command can assume command at any time they deem it necessary to overwrite any of the above as this asset falls under Frontline Command
By joining the PSU Team & receiving this training on any level you are agreeing to this policy & any changes that may come of it. If at any point you are found to be in breach of this policy, disciplinary action can/will be taken.
