Project Description
The event was 5k Community Walk/Run to raise funds and awareness. It was held at Markham Park, Sunrise, FL on December 9, 2023, at 7:30 am.
Purpose
My project was to not only help organize the event, but to coordinate many of the activities leading up to the event, including organizing volunteers for the event and to help do all the things needed for the event. I chose this as my individual service project because I support the mission of the Aden Perry Good Samaritan Foundation. I hope that by completing my project, people will be aware of the Aden Perry Good Samaritan Foundation morals, their existence, and how they came to be. I also hope that the people who participate and/or volunteer for this will want to do more for their community and volunteer more.
Reflection
I feel as if my project helping the Aden Perry Good Samaritan Foundation has helped me grow as a leader. I feel this because I was put in charge of the food for after the 5k. I learned that if you need other people to pay attention and work hard, you have to stay calm and be persistent. Some of my struggles actually helped me by reminding me to stay calm. The struggles that I had were that the lines were long when the race was finshed and people were hungry. My solution to this was asking one of the other volunteers to help me with the serving. Overall, my successes are what mattered, we got through the entire event almost seamlessly.
