The integration of microcredential courses marks a significant advancement in the Misereor–LINK project’s efforts to strengthen teacher capacity in inclusive education. These short, targeted learning modules provide teachers with focused, competency-based professional development opportunities that culminate in digital badges or certificates recognizing specific skills and knowledge areas in inclusion and special education.
This microcredentialing approach enhances the traditional training offered by LINK Center for the Deaf, Inc. (LCDI) by making professional learning more modular, flexible, and outcomes-oriented, in line with global trends in continuing professional development. It allows teachers to progress at their own pace, document and validate newly acquired competencies, and strengthen their professional qualifications for career advancement and further studies.
The ongoing development of microcredential courses—such as Curriculum and Pedagogy in Inclusive Education, Educational Assessment of Students with Additional Needs, Behavior Management and Modification, Development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), CPA in SPED: Adaptive STEM Instruction (Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract Framework for Inclusive Mathematics and Science Teaching), and Transition Education—emphasizes practical competencies and field-based applications. These courses are designed to directly address teachers’ current professional learning needs and to promote inclusive teaching practices in mainstream classrooms.
Our Micro-Credentials Program for Teachers is powered by a passionate and diverse team dedicated to advancing inclusive education for the Deaf. Combining expertise in deaf education, teacher training, community advocacy, and professional development, our team works together to design engaging, practical, and accessible learning experiences. With their collective skills and commitment, they equip educators with the tools and confidence to create inclusive classrooms where Deaf learners thrive.
Together, we are united by one mission: empowering teachers to create inclusive, barrier-free learning environments for Deaf students.
