After the successful implementation of the “Maagap at Mapagkalingang Magulang” Parents’ Program Webinars 2025, Batch 1 participants are now continuing their learning journey through the Basic Sign Language Training, a key follow-through initiative designed to strengthen the communication bridge between parents and their Deaf children.
This 10-week training focuses on developing practical, everyday communication skills that empower parents to express care, guidance, and emotional support in a language their children fully understand. By learning basic sign language, parents can actively participate in their child’s daily experiences, support their learning at home, and foster a stronger sense of belonging and inclusion within the family.
A total of 17 parents qualified and enrolled in the Basic Sign Language Training. These parents are raising Deaf children who are currently studying in:
Miriam College Skills Development and Technical Education Center
Bagong Silang High School
Bagong Silang Elementary School
Beyond language acquisition, this initiative also nurtures confidence and advocacy among parents, transforming them from passive participants into active allies and partners in their children’s education. It creates opportunities for families to practice inclusion at home, ultimately influencing how their children engage with school, peers, and the larger community.
