LINK FOR ALL Conducts Online 5-Day Sign Language Training of Trainers
LINK Center for the Deaf Inc., in partnership with the Carmona Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) headed by Ms. Rosebelle Mercurio, successfully conducted the LINK for ALL: Online 5-Day Sign Language Training of Trainers (TOT) on May 21, 28, June 4, 11, and 18, with a total of 90 registered participants from Carmona, Silang, and General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite (CarSiGMA). Participants represented the Barangay Committees on Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from Barangays 3,4,5,7,8,9 and Barangays 10-14. The training also welcomed representatives from the Mayor’s Office (M.O.), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), City Health Office (CHO), Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), Peace and Order Council (PBC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and various non-government organizations (NGOs).
The training was facilitated by Deaf Trainers Dianne Salazar, Maria Cristina Collado, and Althea Bailon, who delivered engaging online sessions on Basic Sign Language through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and practical signing exercises. Participants developed essential communication skills and gained a deeper understanding of Deaf culture, communication etiquette, and inclusive communication.
The five-day Basic SL Training of Trainers (TOT) equipped participants with sign language skills and confidence to become advocates and future Trainers in their respective offices and communities. By promoting effective communication and greater awareness of Deaf culture, participants are better prepared to provide more accessible and inclusive services for Deaf individuals.
LINK Center for the Deaf Inc. extends its heartfelt appreciation to all 90 participants, the Deaf trainers, and the participating barangays, government offices, PNP, and NGO partners for their commitment to advancing Deaf inclusion. Through the LINK for ALL program, LINK continues to break communication barriers and promote equal access through Sign Language education.
Building on the success of this training, LINK Center for the Deaf Inc. looks ahead to offering the next Intermediate Sign Language Training of Trainers (TOT), continuing its mission to empower communities and foster inclusive communication.
