Identified business establishments will be provided disability awareness and sensitivity orientations and basic sign language training. The business entities may include companies which are already employing people with disabilities (PWD). The program will also encourage many other companies to hire PWDs by gaining effective PWD-friendly strategies from the program to accommodate them in their establishments.
On September 2, the LINK Center for the Deaf Executive Director, Ms. Carolyn Ui, brought the Deaf Awareness and Sensitivity Orientation (DASO) to the dedicated community workers of PDAO Carmona.
The orientation highlighted the barriers that persons with disabilities (PWDs) – especially the Deaf—face in daily life, focusing on communication challenges, accessibility gaps, and social inclusion. Participants learned how awareness and sensitivity can open doors to better interactions and inclusive public service.
By the end of the session, participants not only gained knowledge but also a deeper sensitivity to the unique experiences of the Deaf. With these insights, they are now better equipped to champion inclusivity in their daily work and service.
