Module 1: Understanding Disabilities: Introduction to Inclusion and Disability Rights
Session 1: October 3, 2025
The LINK Center for the Deaf officially launched its LINK for All: Learning, INclusion, and Knowledge for All program through its first-ever webinar, “Understanding Disability: Introduction to Inclusion and Disability Rights”, held on October 3, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
The event opened with welcome remarks from LINK’s Executive Director, Ms. Carolyn Ui, who underscored the importance of the program in empowering community workers to become advocates and champions of inclusion in their own barangays. She highlighted LINK’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with community frontliners to ensure accessible and inclusive services for all.
The first session, led by Mr. Exequiel Francisco, provided an insightful discussion on the foundations of disability awareness, highlighting how understanding different types of disabilities is the first step toward building inclusive and accessible communities.
The event was attended by community workers from the City of Carmona, including barangay representatives and health workers, who actively participated in the dialogue and shared their experiences. The participants left feeling informed and equipped with a better understanding of the differences between handicap, disability, and impairment.
This kick-off marks the beginning of a series of community capacity-building sessions under the LINK for All Program, designed to empower the community workers and promote inclusion for Deaf and persons with disabilities in every community.
