Signs & Locations – Building Global Cubes, 2007
Interactive spatial installation, dimensions: 500 × 700 × 100 cm
Digital print, MDF panels, 6 Digital print 50 x 70 cm
The interactive installation Signs & Locations – Building Global Cubes consists of six oversized cube objects reminiscent of “fairy tale puzzles” from childhood. When the cube faces are assembled, six distinct images emerge – six different world maps illustrating global political divisions, education indices, wealth indicators, corruption levels, writing systems, and culture in the context of globalization.
This creates a dynamic interplay between image and representation, between image and knowledge within a symbolic system that is both pre-configured and reconfigured. The installation is complemented by six digital prints illustrating the individual world maps. Through this work, the artist encourages viewers to explore various issues from a broader perspective and provides space to perceive historical connections and interrelations.
