Installation “Un – Accessible”
"What You Were Not Allowed to See”
The artist Zora Lednarova confronts the audience with the frustration of everyday barriers faced by people with disabilities. By installing an oversized step at the entrance, she denies visitors access to the exhibition space, mirroring the exclusion that many experience in public life.
Inside, documentary photographs depict the artist transferring her personal struggles onto canvas through conceptual action painting — even using her wheelchair as a painting tool. Yet the works remain out of reach: the public is left outside, access deliberately withheld.
This installation, specially conceived for the exhibition Politics of Being Heard at Bärenzwinger Berlin, challenges the majority society to reflect on both physical and social barriers, exposing how inclusion is still not a self-evident part of our diverse community.
