“Safe Embrace”

80x 50 x 12 cm,  Sandstone, porcelain, 1996

The sculpture draws on the archetypal motif of the Pietà – the timeless image of a mother protecting a fragile body in a quiet embrace. Organically interwoven lines create an abstract yet distinctly intimate gesture of holding, where a sense of safety and acceptance emerges. The porcelain detail, an enlarged structure of stone, serves as a symbol of a seed: the primordial core of life surrounded by care and calm. The work weaves together spiritual tradition and modern abstraction, inviting the viewer to perceive the delicate balance between vulnerability and protection.
