Teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision making.
Lesson Plan Project
Class: EDST 2550 Educational Assessment
Semester: Spring 2022
Rationale: This lesson plan covers a few different forms of assessment including verbal, worksheet, small group, and self-reflections from the students. It outlined the student objectives and unpacked a standard to formulate the lesson plan. This lesson encourages students to think critically and creatively when answering the Bloom's Taxonomy questions.
Lesson Plan Rubric Assignment
Class: EDST 2550 Educational Assessment
Semester: Spring 2022
Rationale: In this assignment, I created a rubric for my Lesson Plan Project (above) and wrote the criteria. I was able to identify the descriptors of each level of performance in which will help guide my decision in determining where the student is at based on their performance.
ISIE #3: Assessments
Class: EDFD 2020 Foundations of Education
Semester: Spring 2021
Rationale: The ISIE #3 assignment allowed me to perform research on four types of assessments. I learned more about how they work, what information they provide, and the pros and cons of each of them. It gave me an understanding of how the usage of assessment in the classroom have numerous benefits for engaging, tracking progress, and determining what steps a teacher needs to initiate for further learning.
Practicum Journal 2: Assessments
Class: EDFD 2020 Foundations of Education
Semester: Spring 2021
Rationale: In this practicum journal, I got to share my first-hand experience of how assessments are implemented in the classroom. My mentor teacher used IXL assignments and short vocabulary quizzes to assess the student's understanding of the content. Based on the results, my mentor teacher took additional steps to optimize learning. When assessing the vocabulary, she would allow the students to formulate sentences using the vocabulary word, then observe how accurately the word was used.
