Classroom Management Plan
Class: EDUC 2100 Practicum in Teaching
Semester: Spring 2022
Rationale: This assignment has helped me ideate my plan of how I anticipate my classroom management to be by compiling techniques, strategies, and resources through research and knowledge from previous courses. The heart of classroom management begins with creating a community within the classroom and school. This plan of fostering a community comprises of establishing relationships with students in both traditional and remote settings. To stay current on my pedagogy, the Classroom Management Plan allowed for me to perform research on several infamous theorists whose theories are most apparent and applicable to children’s education. I was able to ideate what my future classroom would look like, as well as incorporate certain components into the layout that would enhance learning, student engagement, learning procedures, and an overall welcoming environment for my students. I also outlined my plan to manage technology in traditional and remote learning environments. This plan also lists different ways I plan to make learning accessible for every one of my students, the rules of my future classroom, why the rules were chosen, as well as what consequences will follow them (both positive and negative). The importance of establishing a classroom community is discussed as well as how to do so through positive reinforcements, celebrations, communicating effectively and consistently with parents/guardians, parental involvement, and by fostering cultural competence in the classroom. Overall, each of these components benefit each student in the classroom scholastically, emotionally, and socially. I also attached my Back-To-School presentation which will allow students and their families to get to know me.
Celebrations in the Classroom Presentation
Class: EDFD 2100 Educational Psychology
Semester: Spring 2022
Rationale: I created this presentation based on the research in the book, Clock Watchers. I primarily focused on how and when to have celebrations in the classroom. Celebrations should acknowledge a student's achievement, big or small, although celebrations should be based off of authentic achievement. Implementing celebrations in the classroom overall fosters a caring classroom community.
Sanford Inspire Module: The Physical Environment of Your Classroom
Class: EDUC 2100 Practicum
Semester: Spring 2022
Rationale: Throughout this module, the important attributes of the physical environment of a classroom were highlighted. The module included effective practices such as keeping the room free of clutter, the utilization of decorations, and materials that should be included. By the end of the module, I was able to determine the relationships between the environment of the classroom to student behavior, motivation, and achievement.
ISIE #2: The Power of Commonalities
