Reading Bar Graphs Lesson Plan #2

Rationale: This lesson plan incorporated Plickers, which provided a unique learning experience for the first graders. The students were able to read, interpret, and create bar graphs in a gradual release. This lesson fostered creativity and stimulated critical thinking when the students were solving problems throughout the lesson.
My Literacy Plan Presentation
Class: EDEL 2140 Teaching Literacy in The Elementary School
Semester: Fall 2021
Rationale: In this presentation, I was able to ideate methods to incorporate into my future classroom that can strengthen the student's literacy skills. Some activities I discussed were reading and writing workshop, independent reading, guided reading, read aloud, literacy circles, word work, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. This presentation also discussed different forms of assessments, both formative and summative, I anticipate on checking in with students to monitor progress and checking out to observe growth.

Rationale: In the research journal, I gained a better understanding of how evaluating prior knowledge can be helpful when tracking a student's progress. While researching information for this assignment, I also found it essential to evaluate a student's prior knowledge in order to scaffold.

Class: EDEC 1020 Introduction to Early Childhood Education
Semester: Fall 2020
Rationale: For this assignment, I was able to observe the preschool classroom at Western Wyoming Community College. I recorded my observations of rote, social, and meaningful knowledge. After the observation, I was able to make connections between the actions of the children and how this data informed my practice as a future teacher. I was also able to differentiate between different types of acquired knowledge, and why these different forms of knowledge are important in the classroom.
