Effective date: 10 October 2026
ShelfTrack: Expiry Tracker ("the app") is made by Krish Innovation Labs, the trade name of an individual developer ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: everything you add stays on your phone. ShelfTrack has no account, no ads, no analytics and no internet permission, so it cannot send your data anywhere.
What ShelfTrack stores
You decide what goes into ShelfTrack. It stores, on your device only:
Your items: the name, category, place, expiry date, quantity and note you enter or confirm, and optionally a price per unit and a barcode number.
Pack photos you choose to keep: if "Keep pack photos" is on, a downsized copy of the photo is saved in the app's private storage so it can be shown as a thumbnail. If it is off, the photo is read and then discarded.
Places and settings: the names of your storage places, alert preferences and language.
We do not collect, ask for or store your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or any ID. There is no sign-in.
How photos are read
When you take or pick a photo of a pack, the name, expiry date, count and any barcode or QR code are recognised on your phone by Google's ML Kit, using models bundled inside the app. The photo is not uploaded anywhere. ShelfTrack does not hold the camera permission: photos are taken by your phone's own camera app and returned to ShelfTrack, or chosen with the Android photo picker, which gives ShelfTrack only the photo you select. Text read from a photo is a suggestion; you check it before saving.
What leaves your phone
Your items leave your phone only when you choose to send them:
Exporting a spreadsheet (CSV) opens Android's share menu; the app or person you pick receives that file.
Saving a backup file writes a file to a location you pick (your phone's storage or a cloud drive you use). That copy is then handled by the place you saved it.
ShelfTrack does not use Android's cloud backup, so your data is not copied to Google Drive by the app. Use "Save a backup file" in Settings to keep your own copy. If you set up a new phone by copying directly from your old one (cable or Wi-Fi), Android may move ShelfTrack's data across; this goes phone to phone with no server in between.
Free trial marker
ShelfTrack gives every new user a free trial of Pro. So that clearing the app's data does not restart the trial, the app saves a small marker file in your Downloads folder (Download/ShelfTrack/). It contains one timestamp (when the trial began) and nothing else: no identifier, no personal information. You can delete it at any time; the only effect is that the trial may start again.
Purchases and reviews
Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play. Google Play tells the app whether you own it; we never see your payment details. If the app asks you to rate it, the rating screen is shown by Google Play. Google's own privacy policy applies to Google Play: https://policies.google.com/privacyÂ
Third-party services
ShelfTrack contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting service and no third-party server. The only third-party components are libraries that run inside the app on your phone (Google ML Kit for reading photos offline, Google Play Billing for the purchase, and the Google Play in-app review prompt). We do not sell or share your data.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, ShelfTrack shows at most one daily summary when something has expired or is about to. It shows counts only, never item names. It is scheduled on your phone.
Security
Your data lives in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read, protected by your phone's own encryption and screen lock. Backup and spreadsheet files you export are ordinary files: keep them somewhere safe.
Your control and data deletion
Delete an item or a place from inside the app.
Clear everything with Android Settings > Apps > ShelfTrack > Storage > Clear data, or by uninstalling the app. Because we hold no copy, this removes your data completely; backup or spreadsheet files you exported, and the trial marker in Downloads, are not affected.
As there is no account, there is no account to delete.
A tracker, not advice
ShelfTrack is a home inventory and expiry-date tracker. It records what is printed on a pack and does not recommend, prescribe or give advice about any medicine, food or product. Always read the pack, and ask a doctor or pharmacist about medicines.
Children
ShelfTrack is meant for adults. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date, and mention significant changes in the app's release notes.
