The Key West Poetry Guild has been meeting for more than 40 years. Bring your work on the 1st Sunday of every month at 7pm.

As part of a grant program with the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, the Key West Writers Guild Award is given to a member working on their novel, screenplay, collection of poems, non-fiction work, or other full-length manuscript in progress.

Janette Stone has been announced as the 2022 award recipient! Past winners include CJ Geotis (2021) Kristina Neihouse (2020) and JoAnna Gray (2019). Congrats to all our authors! Write on!

The Key West Literary Seminar is a four-day event each January that explores a unique literary theme. The event draws readers and writers from around the globe, and consists of a series of seminars and workshops.

The Studios of Key West is a hub for artists and writers. The non-profit organization is home to literary workshops, classes, book readings, and "Books and Books" shop, where works from many local authors can be purchased.

The Anne McKee Artists Fund Grant is for established and emerging Florida Keys artists needing to fund a project - up to $2000. Up to 20 grants are awarded every year.

Founded in 1981, the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition is held annually with a $2,500 cash prize.

The Tennessee Williams Annual Poetry Competition and Short Story Competition are open to all writers. First place receives a $200 cash prize.


Playwrights and scriptwriters can join the virtual mini-writing critique pod! The group meets every 1-2 weeks and reads treatments, scripts, and pilots, plus shop talk about all things film.
