A lot of the times in life, we as humans feel vulnerable. There are things that we can speak out about, situations that we cannot control. I want to express that feeling of frustration and vulnerability through this piece. These emotions come from my own experience growing up, as I was frustrated with my environment. The faces represent people or spirits that have experienced injustice but cannot voice their pain, along with the face that has been split in half in the center, symbolizing the rage that can no longer be contained. Tongues are seductive, expressive, and delicate. Yet in this situation, I want to use tongues to represent the agony these spirits swallow, the bitterness they taste through their palates while the world around them continues to move forward.
