Title: Storage Room
Medium: Acrylic on big cardboard
(which was cut from a Packing box)
Size: 48”x36”
A study of a storage room I did. I was excited to do some environmental visual studies; however, as the epidemic broke out, it became risky for outdoor activities. I was disappointed that I couldn’t go out and do live observational drawings in the forest near me and felt discouraged to draw until I noticed the storage room while walking around school one day. As I looked around the storage room, the miscellaneous objects piled together in the space started to form dynamic shapes along with the combination of soft and hard materials and textures. I decided to focus and do an observational study based on the storage room and used a big piece of cardboard from the same storage room as my canvas. By doing so, I have included a piece of the environment into my art, even if it’s a simple piece of cardboard that some people see as rubbish.
